Worst factory paint job I've ever seen on a vehicle.

I agree 100%, i have a 2016 i just got 2 months ago. Everytime i'm washing it I find yet another defect in the paint I didn't see last time.. There are bumps, like dust under the paint everywhere.. also, lots of small dents/bends in the metal that hard to notice.

I notice that too, looking down the side of the truck at the right angles, it just blows my mind they pump them out like this. Apparently the Saltillo trucks are better built than the Warren trucks, mines a Warren truck.

Heres my problems so far just hit 200 miles on my reg cab express. My tire pressure sensor quit working. I think i have a rattle in door panel when radio is on or speaker kinda sounds blown (note at full bass). Not to bad thinking its the door panel rattle. Im just super ocd. And for the valve tick it is due to the mds setup rockers lack of oil on startup. Something along those lines. No damage will be caused more then likely just sounds bad. But you can always just do a mds delete after warranty. But my question is has anyone watched there fuel economy meter i just noticed mine reads at stop 0 mpg then will shoot up to max 30 mpg. Maybe a glitch if anyone notices this let me know I dont know if normal or not. But to be honest i still wouldnt buy any other truck i love mine. And you sometimes have to sit and think what we do at work. I tend to cheat a little here and there. You figure these assembly workers do the same thing so much everyday they probally sometimes dont even realize what there doing. But i will say i love the zf trans. Well ok if anyone can let me know about the fuel economy gauge would be appreciated thanks and just drive the wheels off your truck.

There's 1 flaw in the paint on mine I found on the tailgate about a cm in size. First time I ever noticed on a vehicle I bought.

I must just be getting old and not care. Possible rattles, faded weather-stripping, ticking that every truck has, paint on a NEW truck?

95%+ of the ******* and moaning on this thread are minor things that the dealer will take care of or, IMO, people just being over the top picky.

This is a Ram (Dodge) truck - not a Mercedes. The vehicles aren't perfect and at this price point no vehicle is. You're just causing yourself heartache and frustration looking so close for EVERY possible problem that you can run into the dealership and ***** about. Get over it - stop looking at your truck with a magnifying glass. Go play catch with your kids. Ask your wife how her day was. It's just a truck.

I don't completely agree with you. Some of these people "******* and moaning" may have spent over $40K on a truck and they expect the paint, weather stripping..etc to last more than one year without any trouble. I agree with them. Now if we are talking about a truck that is 3 or 4 plus years old, live in rough conditions, then I agree with you...they need to stop complaining. Every situation is different and these trucks aren't cheap. :imo:

My truck after taxes, financing costs etc is over 70k, its brand new, it should be perfect or at least reasonably clost to it, I wont settle for less. A vehicle is the second biggest expense that you make, I dont think anyone is out of line expecting it to be damn near perfect.

I actually did trade a Mercedes in on it btw.

A lot if talk about paint defects. As someone who has spent dozens of hours block sanding, filling, sanding, filling, sanding... I can say I still find imperfections. You try to get all the highs and lows knocked out. You try to get all the oils and dust wiped off before laying paint. But you can't. Most of them you fix with cut and buff of the clear coat, unfortunately modern cars have very little clear coat because of EPA regs on paint fumes an cost cutting.

You also have those rattles, squeaks, etc... even though you turned all the wrenches and assembled the car from a skeleton. I blame it on being old...

The car is pretty old too. Lol

You bought a highly optioned truck, hence the higher price. Having expectations of higher quality because you paid more even though it was built on the same line by the same people that probably made a $25K base model after yours does not relate.

You do not get extra favor for your expectations of quality just because you paid more.

Thats not the point, its 2016, theres no excuse for this type of quality, period. Even if it was a brand new 25k truck I would find it unacceptable.

Heres the deal, nobody on here has seen MY truck, heard MY truck, or driven MY truck to see, feel and hear all the defects. I've been in other Rams that don't have the problems mine does, most everyone I know that has one is completely happy with theirs and after seeing mine agree that yes its a piece of crap. I'm not on here saying rams are garbage, I've been saying MINE is garbage which makes me laugh that some people at the start of this thread seemed to be taking personally, if thats the case I'm sorry that some people are so unhappy, that I'm unhappy with my truck. :roflsquared:

This is the thing, if those of us that got trucks like mine just laid down and took it like some people seem to think we should, guess whats going to happen next time one of you that has a non problematic truck buys a new truck? There's a higher chance of you going through the crap that we are because they get away with it and just cheap out making new ones, not improving any manufacturing processes.

I'm kinda in the middle of both these arguments. I use my truck as my DD as well as for rough personal use. So I will never spend $40-60k on a truck because I use them rough and I'd only end up wrecking a lot of the fancy **** on high end trim models anyway. I suppose if I was only towing a boat or family camper and the interior as well as the bed never really saw any dirt I'd be more inclined to fancy it up but that's not my lifestyle. Financially it's a win-win for me because I can spend $25k on a low mileage used mid-level trim, throw a few mods on it and still come out $15k-35k ahead.

Has the quality gone down much since they started making the 2500 in Mexico?

A 2500 Laramie heavy duty crew cab costs around $100,000us here in Australia......

I never agreed with the Mexico argument. The plants down there are actually more modern and the robotics do most of the work IIRC

Mine was made in Mexico, no problems with quality. Although when they convert them they strip the interior and refit them
