Thank you for the suggestion. The towels are temporary until I buy something just like you suggested. Kids are so hard on interiors of vehicles.

The mega cab is perfect for my needs. The extra back seat room will pay for itself over and over as my boys get bigger. Our plan is also to do some long distance TT Camping. Can’t wait to go explore!

I can second those seat protectors. I have three of them across the back bench in my mega.

Me too. These have held up for 3 year years now between two vehicles. We even have 3 for our Town &Country minivan. By far the best seat protectors out there.

its the simple things like towels that really make a difference. took me 2 months and scrubbing that mold out of the leather seats under the kids car seats to realize how much junk collects under there. thinking of just shrink wrapping the entire back seat

Congrats crazy enough I just picked up near exact truck but only the 5.7L (ok for us), it had been sitting on the lot for 6 months and I had looked around used and dont need a ton of towing capacity almost went down to 1/2 ton.

When I started looking it over realized it had the stuff I cared about like 4.10 gearing, off road package, aluminum wheels, towing mirrors No where else had anything else like it. Sealed the deal when it had the comfort items the wife and family wanted, and we are still findng features here and there after a week.

I had been without a truck since I sold my Ram 1/2 ton 7 years ago was a happy day to pick up a new one.

Nice find! I think the 5.7 is an excellent motor and will serve you well in your truck. For a long time the 5.7 was the only gas motor in these heavy duties as I'm sure you know. I couldn't find a truck with the features I wanted anywhere near me, especially the 4.10 rear end. I could find the 4.10 in a couple tradesman's and some of the creature comforts in a Laramie but I couldn't find both together. I didn't want a moon roof or leather so the big horn fit the bill perfectly. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Been driving it back and forth to work, hauled my 18 foot car trailer and have taken my family on a few rides in it. We all fit in it well, it has apple car play, and it tows me trailer with no fuss. The trailer tow mirrors are excellent, it looks badass, and I cant wait to use the 4x4 off road features this winter here in Oregon.

How's the storage area behind the backset? When the time comes I'm really interested in the megacab for both storage behind the set and the leg room in the cab. Curious about how much you could fit behind/under the backseats.

Can't compare the crewcab and megacab configurations. They're apples and oranges. If you ache for 2nd row leg room and storage behind the 2nd row, it's a no-brainer. That's why I bought mine.

Of course you can compare them. But since they don't make the megacab in 1500 (maybe in the 5th gen but I don't know yet) I'd have to go up to 2500 for it, and just wanted to see what OP thought about it. I wouldn't otherwise need the hd (yet) so it might be hard to justify if the storage/leg room wasn't what it's cracked up to be.

Curious what's different about the off road package you have. Do you know exactly? Was it worth it? Looks like you have the same tires and ride height as I do so maybe just shocks or even different spring rates?

The 4x4 off road package gives you front tow hooks, bilstein shocks front and rear, transfer case skid plate, fender flares, and hill descent control. I don't believe it changes ride height or anything else about the truck. It was a $445 add on when I built the truck. I wanted the skid plate and the fender flares so it was worth it to me. Aftermarket painted to match fender flares would have cost me more than that. It certainly isn't a power wagon type package but it does add a few nice features.

There is a ton of space behind the rear seats. Maybe 6-8 inches approximately from top to bottom. On the bottom of this area behind the seats is a storage compartment all the way across with two access doors, one on each side. I would say the storage compartment is approximately 5-6 inches wide by maybe 4-6 inches deep with a few movable dividers inside. The other nice thing about the rear mega cab seats is they recline. My five year old son has already reclined the seat and slept back there on a trip out of town I took last weekend. The leg room is excellent, and the seats fold forward and flat, making a huge flat load area in the back for sleeping or carrying big objects. Its truly multi-purpose. It is substantially bigger than a crew cab. You do lose the storage boxes in the floor that the crew cab has but the room behind the seats more than makes up for those in my opinion.

Time for her first bath. Living on a gravel driveway sucks sometimes. Couldn’t believe how fast it got dirty. The dealership put tire shine on the tires and the dust and dirt sticks to that like crazy.

WOOHOO congratulations I'm really excited for you...:bowroflwerd6:
I would have gotten the Cummins, but then again I guess I give away my preference for diesel.

Nic pic mine looks exact same with exception of engine badge and roof top lights, also it has harvest package so grill and rear step. I'll get pics up soon.

For some other questons asked to throw my 2 cents in:

- Room in the rear cab behind rear seats, not a ton back there but plenty to throw some small duffell bags for a trio, keep rathcet straps, has bang hangers for groceries etc. Coulnt out a large suitcase or anything
-off road package, like said earlier for $445 why not get it if available, I think only real non cosmetic upgrade is the the shocks and skid plate. The skid is decent but I am used to heavy duty jeep skid plates and this thinkg is not that. Than again I'm not going to take a huge truck rock crawling so no need. I will likely take this truck on beach, up some fire roads, maybe backcountry camping spots, etc. More important to off road than the off road package would be the 4.10 upgrade and it comes with a limited slip in the rear (should be std IMO). I wish you could get a selctable rear locker stock without going to the power wagon which was out of my price range.

Did a little bit of Towing this week. Sold this 73 Camaro and the buyer asked me if I could transport it for him. I was happy to do it and put a few more Towing miles on to see what I thought. Towed like a dream. It was about an hour drive each each way. Some flat rural highway, a bit of rolling hills and some back country roads. No hiccups, felt like the trans shifted well. No complaints from me.

Today I had the windows tinted. I had 20% tint applied over the factory privacy glass in the rear. Plus 20% on the front two windows. I like how it turned out. I can still see through the rear windows just fine but it really added to the privacy and looks of the truck.

Nice looking truck! I'm curious as to why the in-floor storage is only available in crew cabs and not the megacab. Sure yes, as you explained there seems to be quite a bit of space behind the seats, I'm trying to find pics of the space that's actually back there. Would you mind posting a pic of what's there behind the rear seats? Do you still have the cubby storage under the rear seats if not the in-floor storage? Thanks!
