2019 classic. Folding rear seat mod done.

Kind of been forced into removing my rear seat in my 2018 2500 Crew cab I was trying to remove the passenger side rear c-pillar and dropped the screw all the way down. So now I have to take both parts of that pillar off to get the screw out so it doesn't rattle and drive me crazy I was looking at your post, were you able to get the seat back to lower just by cutting those clips you didn't actually have to raise the seat up with spacers like many others do? I would really rather not add some material to the seat. Thanks for any help on this.

I have 60/40 rear and tried the drivers side. So far cut the metal tip off upto the plastic part AND put washers under the seat and still not enough

I think they welded the catch loop on the high side to my rear bulkhead?? I have to revisit this in spring to see if I can bend that down a little. I hated having to put washers under the seat without finding longer bolts.

Seems like a crap shoot as to what method works for each person. I always get the truck with the oddball issues lol

I was also going to ask about not raising the seat and still works lol So why spacers then ? Glad I have not done mine yet with spacers :O

Using spacers should eliminate having to cut/shorten the hooks is all I can think of, other than adding spacers to increase the room under the seat.

That is odd. I think in 3yrs of so of following this, I've only see it reported once or twice that trimming the hooks didn't work. I want to say it was with the 60/40 seat as well.

Valid point ! Thanks I will look into more in the spring when we get times high enough so I do not freeze off my chrome lug nuts lol

On my 19 classic I had to cut off a bit more to get them to clear the hooks on the back wall. I filed the inside cut to a taper but still have to give it a yank to clear so could of cut a smidge more!

I did the mod just recently to get ready to install the seat covers I ordered. Will be a lot easier with this mod and also protect the back of the rear seats.
Don’t really plan on storing much behind the seats but maybe a winter blanket, spare gloves and will be a good place to mount amps in the future.

Thanks for pics. Thinking of doing that to mine. BTW 9, 11, 13, 15, 16 and 18mm are some of the uncommon sizes in metric wrench sets .

Yep. I get my odd sizes at Harbor Freight. If your not a professional mechanic. They are good enough.

No sir. If you trim the hooks on the seatback, you don't have to add spacers to raise the seat bottom. The job is super easy on the one piece crew cab rear bench seat. Like said above, if it's the 60/40 rear seat, you'll just have twice the work.

In regards to dropping the screw, I did something similar with my 2017 Ram 1500 on the rear pillar plastic trim. I dropped one of the screws down into internal oblivion, never to be found again. LOL. No rattles luckily.

I finally got around to doing this mod and I’m glad I read this before I started. I was never a big fan of the washer mod, this is much cleaner.

Quick question @WY-Dave , how did you install the clips? I tried moving some from one seat to another and broke two of them. The first one broke trying to remove the push-pin and on the second one I cut away the old push pin but then when I went to install it on another seat I cracked it trying to get the push pin installed. It seems like the factory must have something like a pair of needle nose with a washer on one jaw to back up the weak plastic.

Honestly it's been so long and wound up replacing a couple of more times. IIRC, the third time I broke a new one and stopped replacing them. Then I just took the whole rear seat out for the dogs.
