I’m not telling you what to do, it’s just that the 2019 models are still going to be 2019 models in a few years only way cheaper.

Right, but in a few years the 2023 will be out. In 2018, technology moves at such a fast pace that 4 years is a lifetime.

I know, I was just having a little fun. We all have to do what's right for us. I'm building an overlanding platform that I plan to use off the grid for the next 10 years and I drive 700 miles a week. If you just need to commute 5 miles a day, I get it. But I spend about as much time in my truck as my house, and I sleep in it about 30 days out of the year.
That’s really cool. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Unless the RAMs go to all electric in 2023 you should save your money and buy the 2023 since that’s what you really want. There isn’t that much of a difference between 4th and 5th generation models. Still a 5.7 liter hemi gas, still on coil rear suspension.

As someone who has owned a new Dodge product every 3 years or so for the last 14 years, I can tel you that much changes in these vehicles every couple of years, even if the features look the same, they don’t behave the same. Different people need different things. I’m not knocking those who want to wait and buy used, I am just saying that the logic of “wait until the deal improves” leaves you in an indefinite cycle of waiting.

Slight differences not major ones is how they make you “feel” you need a new vehicle every couple years. That’s how they get you to spend huge amounts of money on something that’s basically the same.

The Gen 4 Ram was basically the same for 10 years. The only major thing that changed was going to the 8spd tranny in 2013. Any other changes were minor IMHO. Other than some powertrain upgrades there's no way in hell you will see a major body style change for at least 5-7 years minimum. You would be better off to wait. The rebates/discounts will improve dramatically in the next year or two. However if you can get everything you want and get a 10K discount then go for it but that's highly unlikely for most of us.

That's why I'm not loyal to just Ram. I switch between Ford and Ram so that I do get something "new " to look at everytime I swap. That seems to be every 2-3 years. I don't trade because I wear out what I have, I get bored.

A slight difference to you is a major one to a lot of people. There were literally waves of threads in the Charger forums of people wanting to trade in their 15s for a 16 because of Apple CarPlay. Different strokes for different folks. Of course, a lot of this could be avoided if they’d release OTA upgrades for electronics in cars - which is where I believe the future will eventually take us.

Airplay can be had simply by changing the head unit, not the vehicle. People buy new because they want to spend money unnecessarily.

I’m not wrong.

You are and you sound arrogant and ignorant by saying you aren’t. I bought a new truck because I needed more space for my growing family and a pragmatic approach to being a new homeowner. I bought a new truck because I enjoy the safety and comfort of a full warranty and being the only history associated with my truck. I bought a new truck because I wanted advanced technology, not obsolete technology. I did not buy a new truck because I like to spend money unnecessarily.

So you’re telling me you can’t get all those things you mentioned in a used truck? You have to buy a 65000 dollar truck because a similar used truck the same size isn’t good enough for your family? I have a lifetime warranty with my used truck and it’s more than enough room for my growing family, and even at 6 years there is more than enough technological advances or at least I can add them at little expense of justify spending 65,000. You’re just trying to justify your spending 65000 for the shiny new toy. Whatever, it is your money. I just don’t get it.

Ravjay. ...I'll keep buying new stuff because I like new stuff, I can easily afford to buy new stuff and if it weren't for people like me, you couldn't buy our used beaters. And yes, you will never get it.. ....
I do get you. You’re right, I’d rather get your 19 beater in a few years for way less because it will still be a ‘19 and it will be even better because you’ll throw many more thousands of dollars modding it up which will save me even more! So yes, spend away. You’re only making things easier to afford for me.

I don't need to justify spending 65k on a toy. Why get upset with the people who provide you with those used trucks? We're just trying to stimulate the economy! LOL!!!

Show me the updated uconnect system your truck has. Show me the updated interior. Show me the refreshed look. Show me the extra 4 or so inches of interior room. Show me everything that comes new on my truck. I have time. I’ll wait. You can’t. And that’s fine, you don’t need to want those things. You can be perfectly happy with an old truck and I can be perfectly happy in a new one. Your lifetime warranty doesn’t cover bumper to bumper and the little things a wife and kids may make use of more than you do. I didn’t unnecessarily throw away money, I paid market value for the things I value. Others will want the eTorque, start and stop, and other engine upgrades that come this year. You sound absurd attacking people. And if others want to spend $70K cash on their truck, that’s their decision. Endlessly attacking people you don’t agree with is crazy.

You’re still trying to justify spending 70k for something that isn’t worth 70k. I have leather, I have uconnect, a 5.7 hemi just like you do. 4 xtra inches? Seriously? I’m very happy in my “old” truck. There’s no justification you can give for spending 70k. None. Zero.

Why isn't "I have enough money" a good justification? Why does it have to be justified at all?

It's the same justification used for things like buying an ice cream cone or splurging on a new shirt or even buying a new book. Oh I shouldn't buy that book new because I can get it used in a few months lol

If the truck is 100% of someone's yearly salary then ok maybe they should prioritize. If the family is fed, the bills are paid, everyone is comfortable, and the truck is 25% of someone's salary, I mean, who cares?

This discussion seems pointless on both sides, yet so infused with a bitter taste.
