I took my 2020 Classic Ram with the family for a long road trip this summer. With my wife and I, three kids and a dog, the dog needs to sit in the front seat. Half way through our trip, when I lifted the center console, the android auto would disconnect and the screen would say device not supported. Even after hitting OK (and even disconnecting the cable), the screen would still say device not supported.

On my trip, I looked into where wiring goes, and it seems to tuck beside the hinge of the console, but no visible wear and tear.

Anyone have an idea why this happens?

Welcome to the Forum.

Really sounds like a "loose" wire, short, not connected all the way, especially if the wire is by the hinge as U state. Wire could be chaffed, or maybe pulling a lil loose at another connection somewhere down there in the wiring by the console, underneath. U may have to get out yer device and start tracing and snooping.

Are connecting to the USB port in the console then running a wire out to your phone? Could be the connection was pulled tight which could cause problems such as broken pin in the cable, or even the port itself. Did you try a new cable? And have you traced the main wire into the console as mentioned above? My first instinct is the phone cable or the port. The wire to the console, even in location you mention, should be fairly protected for the anticipated movement of the console up and down but still check it out for kinks, worn insulation (you may need to remove the outer wrap to inspect inside individual wires) and such. Good luck

seems fishy

I experience annoying issues where the connecting usb wire causes the phone to disconnect. It seems to be at the connection at the truck usb.I bought a bluetooth dongle off Amazon and plugged it into the Ram usb.It fit very snuggly.Actually for a while after I plugged it in I couldn't remove it.It was stuck in the usb outlet.Eventually I did get it to come out and now it isn't sticking. Now,I do not have any annoying disconnects. So in my opinion try a different wire to connect to the usb.Maybe yours isn't connecting 100%.Also the blue tooth dongle pairs the Android phone to the truck very well, and you can get rid of the wire .
