I hope someone can supply an answer to this as I have the same issue with getting power to a rechargeable MagLite, a Uniden SDS200 scanner and a Vertex 2200 GMRS radio.

Not an answer, just old school thought. Run high gauge line from Battery with in line fuse. Trace where wiring goes into cab and go there and seal accordingly. I would imagine there has to be a point somewhere in the cab to ground. If not, U would have to ground same way under hood to a ground point. But it has been a seriously long time since I did ne thing like that,. Just a thought from lowly Boird, all IMHO.....

ADDED: Some PPL set up auxiliary power points off of fuse box and run cables. I have not played that way, but those PPL who run high power amps and such set up aux fuse boxes and power points. U would have to search to find that info, as I just settle for what is in the truck.

Gmrs radio you want to grab a positive hot direct from the battery and switch it with a relay. Negative to the chassis, not back to the battery. Best way to eliminate electrical noise.

There is a 12v port on top the dash already. If you need it to stay power up When key is off, then switch it at the fuse box to one of the 2-4 open slots there( depends options you have)
