I love everything about my 2021 1500 Bighorn except the sound. It’s horrible. My 2011 SLT with the Alpine system sounded great, my 2011 Suburban with a Bose system sounded really good and whatever the hell is in my wife’s 2019 Pacifica is outstanding.

The thing they call a stereo system in this truck sounds like ****. Past 22 everything just gets distorted, no bass response at all and the highs sound brittle. It’s the base 6 speaker system, I wasn’t expecting anything earth shattering but c’mon. I’m going to spend some money on some replacement door speakers and tweeters in the dash. What size speakers can drop in the doors without needing any adapters or anything? Crutchfield shows that 5 1/4”, 6 1/2” and 6x9’s will all fit.

And is there a subwoofer out on the back of the head unit? I’d like some more bass but don’t want to do anything crazy just yet. One of the Kicker low profile powered 10’s under the rear driver side seat would be perfect.

Im n the same thought pattern. Anything above 24 is the same volume. 24-38 same loudness sounds like a radio-shack special or a Kraco radio

Just picked up a 21 Big Horn Night edition and think it sounds fine. I dont have a reason to turn it up past 18-20 in most cases, bass is decent for a stock system too. I can actually "feel" certain tracks and the bass and mids were only bumped a couple notches each in the EQ.

Yes the Kicker SRAMCQ09 if for 4th gen, but changing the speakers will help. Bad thing is most radios EQ any bass out of the system to save the crappy speakers.

There are a ton of posts on this forum and the other one for 5th gen trucks. If you have the base 6-speaker system (not Alpine and not H/K) it is simple. You can fit most 6x9s in both the front and back doors. A lot of people have used the Infinity Reference 9633ix speakers with success.

I went a different route and just added an old sub and amp to my system. It made a huge difference. To do so, Ram made it very easy. You just need to buy a harness that contains a PAC. It plugs into the ANC module located under your driver's seat and gives you two RCA outs for the sub amp. All that I had to do was run power from my battery. I was able to ground right under the driver's seat.

This is the harness that I got. If you want to amplify your door speakers, you can also get one of these with more outs that would go to your speaker sub:

Plenty of easy upgrades to do without going crazy.
