Agreed it is too early to get a good read. Mine is a 2018 with 4.10's and I have the 6 speed so won't be quite as good as you would get but as said, alot depends on driving style. Look at the bottom of my post at my fuelly. I am averaging about 12.1 over about 15,000 miles and that includes about 700 miles of towing ~ a 9000lb trailer. My EVIC typically reads about .5 higher than my hand calculated but has been as far off as being .5 better than my EVIC read to 2 MPG worse than the EVIC read.
I typically see about 12.0 around town and about 16.5 on the highway but I am typically around 70MPH. If I backed it down a little I'm sure I could get better. Towing 9000lbs I get about 8.0MPG or so
This is nearly identical to my experience.

In addition, I've found that sitting idle really kills mpg (more than I'd expect). So if I leave the truck running for 15 minutes while hooking up the trailer, loading the dogs and other last minute things, it uses a surprising amount of gas for going nowhere.

On the topic of 6.4L fuel economy, can someone help me with a decision? I currently own a 2021 Ram Rebel 5.7L eTorque and am averaging 14.62 mpg since I purchased it brand new. I keep a spreadsheet of every fuel fillup, gallons, miles, destination, etc (these are not lie-o-meter numbers). I currently have 8,500 miles on the truck. My highest tank MPG was 17.4 and my lowest 11.6.

I do not beat this truck. Even the dealer couldn't get higher than 18 MPG on their "highway" test, which consisted of driving on a 70 mph interstate for 100 miles at 58 mph getting passed by every semi on the road (my dash cam recorded the whole thing)!

I'm thinking that if 14 mpg is all I'm going to get, why not just upgrade to a 2500 6.4L gas, especially a Power Wagon. Thoughts please? Is this the right idea?

Yep, that mileage sucks for a 1500. A 2500 will definitely be no worse and the PW is WAY more capable off road. Plus they have better cool factor.

Yikes. Not familiar with the e-torque but the regular 5.7 1500's should be closer to 17 or so in town and 20-21 highway. But yeah you should get about 12-13 in town and 16-17 highway with a 2500 6.4. Maybe a little lower with a PW. Saw members here posting they only get 9-10 in a PW. Maybe cause of all the extra weight?

Whoever gets over 12MPG in the city with at least 35s, must live some flat land. Same goes for anyone getting 15mpg on the highway, either you are driving like Ms Daisy or are on very flat land. That or you are running stock tire sizes.

I don’t know where you guys are driving. My pw is a 2021 and I’m at like 8.5. My 2013 1500 was around 12 with same city commute. Jeep on 37s was around 12.5 with same commute. Just FYI. I love it but just being honest with it.
Dude, I think its your numbers landing outside the bell curve, I mean seriously 8.5 and you are at sea level? That's redonkulous, something has to be wrong, truck or fuel, or some **** is a genius gas siphon. (Near impossible) ha the forum **** out the word t.h.u.g.

I feel like mine should be the worst or at least tied for worst. I'm at 7000ft, on 37s (36" KM3), have a 6-speed, my 6.4 is ported from the CAI, true bore 84mm, ported intake, ported heads, and cam big enough I had to get a 3000 stall tc to run, tuned to the hilt by that one guy, plus all the rest if the goodies that help it consume excessive amounts of air.

When I drive, i'm looking for a reason to mash the throttle, if for no other reason than to make sure she's still purring at 6100rpm. I get 10.8mpg city and 12.0mpg on highway (longer runs like 100mi one way but at 85mph and up) That is stop and go highway too, literally. The 12 is usually a glimmer in my eye but she'll show upper 11s all day long.

The 7000ft is a direct 20% power loss compared to sea level. I don't see how yours could be so much different at sea level without there being a reason, a correctable reason. My lowest is 27% more efficient, and my ave is often 11.6 ish, and that's 36.5% more efficient. My wagon usually isn't referred to in such away. Lol

If you have a scan tool or access to one, I'd start by looking at the trucks long term fuel trims. Those will tell you immediately if your truck is running to spec.

Mine is a 2016 pw with 66rfe. I am regeared to 5.13. But all that other jazz doesn't compare to the loss due to elevation alone. Or my driving style.

mine went up to about 14-15 on the display after breaking 50k miles. im a power wagon, lifted, 37x12.5x20 m/t tires. after market bumpers from chassis unlimited. check out my thread for all the goods.
What year is yours? I have a 2016 power wagon and have not been able to find a leveling kit (or lift) for my truck. Everyone I find says not for the power wagon.

21 PW here. Drove it 1k miles (highway) home from the dealership. Couldn’t get out of the 11s I put my 35s on after that I have driven about 500 miles (backroads) on them and still can’t get out of the 11s.
I have only had the truck for about 25 days now. I mean I have tried like not even touching the pedal and I still can’t get better MPGs
How are you guys getting that high of MPGs?

I had a 2013 1500 and now have a 2021 power wagon. On my daily commute it s a lot of traffic. So when I say city. It’s stop and go 80% for 8 miles. I was 11.5-12 on the 1500 and now im 8.5-9 in the. The difference is I think City disproportionately hurts the power wagon. With the lift and 4.10s. I don’t drive a lot so I don’t care. I’m glad to hear this is not the norm lol.

Your engine has barely just started to break in. Modern engines take upwards of 30-40k miles to fully break in. My fuel economy was trash like yours for the first 10k miles. It's been slowly getting better. I'm at 18k miles now and it's up in to 15-16 MPG highway. Same for my 21' Gladiator. For the first 10k miles I'd barely see 18 MPG. Now, at 13k miles it's starting hit the 20's.

Give it some time. Though, those 35" tires aren't doing you any favors.

You saw the pictures of my EVIC readouts at 18.1 and 18.3 MPG Imperial, or about 15.5 U.S. mpg, with less than 500 miles on the clock. Stock 2500 longbox Laramie 6.4, 373 gears on stock 18" Firestone ATs on 81 Octane, 65 mph on cruise most of the time, a little short acceleration mixed in. Hand calculated came to within .1 of the EVIC readout. I expect it will get better over time. The truck weighs 8100 pounds on the test trip with winch and canopy and only me for passenger.

Long way of saying, I am surprised the Power Wagon isn't doing better but just from reading this thread, I certainly see a wide range of mileages from some pretty similar trucks. Lifts and big tires for sure cut back on mileage. Rolling resistance and wind resistance are the two biggest factors in truck mileage. It is why a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5.7 will get 7 to 10 mpg better gas mileage than a pickup with the 5.7. Highway mileage on the 2020 Grand Cherokee, never saw even close to that on the 1500 with the 5.7 my brother has. Have got as high as 34 mpg (27 U.S. mpg) on highway trips with the Cherokee

Mine is a 19 3500 CC LB 4 wheel drive with 4.10 gears. 6.4. I have had the truck for 23 months and have over 55000 miles on it. 70 percent of it's life is pulling my 28' Halmark Edge race trailer around the country. It was getting over 18 MPG right from the get go empty, after I put the ARH headers on I have seen 20.2 to 20.4 a couple times empty on long runs. I pull 13000 pounds all the time and have crossed the country several times with that, It will avg 9.5 on most of these trips. I live in Colorado so going anywhere you most climb very steep mountains so that is always figured into the MPG avg. Very happy with the MPG and performance. Leaving next week for Bowling Green, so another 3000 miles.

30000 to 40000 miles seems extreme for a modern engine to fully break in? I got over 18mpg with 300 miles on the truck. That was my first trip empty to put miles on the truck before I started towing with it. Maybe I got lucky with my truck?

Hey everyone thanks in advance. Yep I just registered here and just bought my 2021 Ram 2500 6.4 and love it! I've put about 250 miles on it not towing and can't seem to get out of the 11-11.9 average mpg range on the highway? That sound about right? Not a huge deal as I'll be using it to tow my Race Rig. Please share any MPG averages you have for your similar 2500 6.4, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks
My 21 Ram 2500 Tradesman turbo diesel gets an average of 17.2 mixed city and hwy. Love this truck it’s a beast! Can’t wait to see how my mileage does with my 33ft 5th wheel on the back. I’m told 13-14mpg is normal… fingers crossed

My ‘21 2500 Hemi has 14k miles but today was my first longer trip without pulling the 5W. I got up to 18.7 with cruise set at 74 but that’s on flat I95. MPG was over a 350 mile segment.
Better than I thought I’d get!

So with 7000 klms on the truck, city, highway and about 3500 k hunting on real bad roads in 4x4 both low and high range the hand tabulated average all all fills currently sits at 16.35 mpg. Best mileage. 22.2 mpg over 500 km, worst 12.2, 400 klms with 350 in low range the other 50 in high range. That is a 60% improvement on my V10 under similar use parameters. Didn't really buy it for improved gas mileage but it certainly is a nice fringe benefit.

Nope. I’ve had people say deduct a MPG and others say it’s pretty accurate. It’s all relative, I was happy to see it regardless :)

depending on season and area I am driving. Summer fuel and driving the jersey shore roads I get 15 or so doing 80, going west into the hills of NJ or local driving I’ll average 12 or so doing 80 since my truck had to downshift a gear since I’m leveled and running tall 34 on 3.73 w the old 6 speed.

Mine's a 2018 with 4.10's. I'm averaging about 12.2 since I bought it 2 years ago and after about 16,000 miles. Most of that is in town driving and about 700 or so miles towing a 9000lb trailer. The best I have got was about 16.5 but driving about 70. towing I get about 8.0. Towing the same trailer with my 2013 1500 3.55's I got 6.5 MPG. These are all hand calculated. My fuelly is shown below. Truck is 100% stock.
