2022 Ram 1500 5.7 23k miles. Yesterday 5 minutes into driving from home to work came to a stoplight went to give it gas and the engine stalled out. No check engine light at all. Put it in park and restarted and made it to work and made it home yesterday and back to work now. Just curious if anyone else has had this happen to them and what might it be? Thank you

Crazy timing—happened to me last month. 2022 5.7, 22k miles on mine. Same thing, around 5 min of driving, was just making a turn and the truck engine stalled/cut off. Also no caution lights on the dash. The sketchy thing with my incident was I wasn’t stopped—just died as I was making my turn. Luckily, pulled over and it started right back up. Hasn’t happened again…

This is happening to several. Mine has done it 4 times in 2 years. It’s very random and to date I haven’t figured out how to duplicate it at will. Please go to NTHSA and file a formal complaint. It’s obviously a systemic problem. Filing a complaint with the NTHSA is the best way to get Ram to look into it.

thanks so much for your input... at least it's good to know that you were able to restart it those 4 times, just kind of scary not knowing when it will happen again... thanks again

I had a similar problem with my 1997 1500. I had around 15,000 miles on it when I left work I tried starting it and it wouldn’t start. I did finally get it started but it stalled about 4 times before I got it to the dealer. Luckily only about 5 miles away. They said it was the battery and needed replacing. Replaced the battery and never happened again. The dealer said was not enough power to power the computer. I now have 325,000 miles on my ram. Hope this helps.

I have a 2009 5.7 Hemi with the 65rfe transmission. It started stalling when I'd slow down or turn. On mine it looked like the transmission wasn't downshifting. I changed the filters and oil and it stopped stalling.

Good luck changing the transmission filters. I wound up doing mine twice, the second time with OEM filters.

My 2022 5.7 has stalled like this atleast 3 times. I’ve taken it to the dealer and of course they’ve not found anything wrong.

I’ve experienced the same issue with my 2021 5.7 etorque. Died when leaving the house one morning. Second stop on the way out of the neighborhood it started chugging and then died as I turned right out of the full stop. Had to put it in park and eventually got it to restart. Hasn’t happened since, but I always notice it’s sluggish coming out of that same stop each time, so I take it easy in that turn to avoid another full stall.

Thank you...down here in South Florida my batteries usually last about 3 years because of the heat. This one is coming up on 2 years old, so that's a feasible suggestion, thanks.....

I presume you guys are keeping the gas tanks with enough gas in them.
Not a good idea to run them too low.
I would be tempted to hook up a good volt meter to monitor battery voltage, but of course while doing that everything is usally going to be fine.

Is the common denominator hot climate?

Nope. Mine has done it when it was 100 and when it was 40. Don’t think ambient temperature has anything to do with it.

Yes, I never let mine get below 1/4 tank, thanks...And luckily mine hasn't done it again since the first time

Update :
Thankfully my truck has not stalled again in the past few weeks, but it does only seem to want to stall within five or 10 minutes of me leaving the house for work early in the morning, (south Florida, not cold weather) and only as I'm approaching a stop sign or traffic light and when the truck down shifts to first gear, that's when the engine or throttle position is trying to find its home... after the truck is warmed up it does not seem to do it at all.....fingers crossed mine won't stall ever again....thanks for the help guys

My experiences are very parallel to yours. You mentioned the TPS. I’m thinking that may be the culprit. I’m certain it’s not ambient temperature related but, engine temperature and or low voltage may be a contributing factor. I just replaced my battery with a higher cranking amp one. Now I get to play wait & see.

2022 Ram with the E-Torque and mine has stalled out twice now this winter. Same thing as others when coming to a stop sign and accelerating engine stalls. Upon restarting the battery light stays on and the charging voltage drops in half of the normal 14 volts. Shut off the truck again and restarted and all lights cleared. Dealership said to replace the battery which I will this weekend and see if that solves it. It also only seems to happen when it's cold and the engine isn't fully up to temp. I already filed the the NHTSA so we will see where that goes.

I'd be checking the IAT for dirt or slime. Had it happen on my 11 when it had an oily k&N air filter. Actually threw a code. Cleaned iAT took out the k&n and replaced with a dry filter. No more problems.
