Has anyone added a dashcam to a 2025? They ought to be a common factory option by now. I was hoping to get the Fitcam but it appears the rearview mirror area is totally different. I have a Bighorn with the Level 1 equipment group, others may be different. Picture attached.
I would prefer an installation without visible wires, but was hoping I could just tap into power in the mirror area. But I could go the cheap way and used a wire to the outlet on top of the dash, but I'd have to have it quite a ways to either side of the existing mirror to avoid obstructing the rear camera. I don't really want to install a camera on the rear window so was just going to rely on the interior camera. But I'm mainly concerned with the forward facing camera.
The other option is to mount it on the dash. My state will only allow something on the bottom of the windshield in the lower left in a 3x4 inch area. I haven't found anything about mounting it on top of the dash in the middle but I know you're not supposed to obstruct vision. And it seems like down that low might miss some things.
The other option I wonder about is a camera in the grill where the front-facing parking camera is on some models; mine has the spot but no camera.
