2025 RHO review - traded from 2500 Rebel

Trucks-wise, I’ve had a Ford Raptor, multiple 5.7 hemi 1500 Rebels, and just came out of a 2024 2500 Rebel Cummins. It was a great truck but I wasn’t towing so it made no sense to have all that extra mass, size, and maintenance.

The RHO is very impressive. It pretty much does it all, but mostly, I really love how luxurious and comfortable it is. Self driving with ventilated messaging seats in an off road pickup truck? Totally insane. But when I want to push it to rush somewhere, I can really move. It’s surprising how well it handles. It still has a loose off-road based suspension but man does it keep it together on the streets, all things considered.

Overall it’s an amazing daily driver. Hope it’s as reliable as all my other trucks have been.

I just got it tinted and already ordered some go rhino running boards. I’m pretty sure I won’t mod anything else on it as it literally looks perfect. Some more sound (intake for turbo noise) might be interesting but not sure I’d want to sacrifice the warranty for that. But we will see what the future holds as I literally have modded every vehicle I’ve owned.

The hurricane motor is interesting. In some ways, it really suits a truck as an inline turbo makes sense. It’s smooth and quiet and never feels overworked. But it also feels like it belongs in a BMW. It even sounds like one (especially the WOT shift noise). In sport mode, it has an almost European feel to it.

Now, back to the 2500…it was great. I just was not using the towing at all. The payload capacity is close enough that this RHO can handle what I need it to. But the driving characteristics are night and day. It drives like a performance suv, not a truck. Plus I felt like my 2500 was starting to have some issues. The differential was leaking (fixed twice by dealer), the transmission had some terrible clunk noises and harsh shifts so I wasn’t sure if that would last, and the motor itself had a very bad loud clicking sound that would come and go. Not to mention the headache of dealing with frequent regens or being worried about idling. But regardless of all that, for my use and needs, this truck as a daily driver is superb and beyond my expectations.

I was cross shopping this with a new Rebel, AT4X, Ford Raptor, and a Raptor 37. I’m extremely happy I went this route and do not regret my decision one bit.

Feel free to ask any questions.

I’m mildly surprised you called your 2024 2500 a great truck with these issues……how many miles did you have on it? Regardless the RHO is a beautiful truck and I wish you many happy years driving it. I drove a Big Horn with the standard six, and that engine did remind me of a BMW. Silky smooth and power when you want it.

True. You’re right. It was a great truck…ignoring the issues/potential issues.

The dealer said the Cummins motor tick was nothing to worry about but from reviewing other videos on YouTube, it seemed like lifter failure was eminent…

So yeah, I did not like having that cloud over me with a potential lost motor/trans/diff…especially with the horror stories about how it takes months and months to get fixed, if ever.

1) RHO SST or HO motor? If SST, highly suggest you run more than 87 regular if HO, well than U know 91 required.
2) 4 X 2 or 4 X 4?
3) Dial shifter or slapstick?
4) Does it come with a 1", 2" or 4" factory lift?
5) Which tires?
6) Avatar still reads 2024 Cummins.
7? MSRP sticker price? Wanna compare to TX.
8) Black on gray??? interior?

G/L with that great looking truck. Drive, enjoy and maintain it.

HO. RHO only comes in HO. In fact I think it stands for “Ram High Output”…or Rhino lol
2) 4 X 2 or 4 X 4?
Full time AWD
3) Dial shifter or slapstick?
Shifter knob like a car. I had the dial on my old 1500 and the column mount on my 2500.
4) Does it come with a 1", 2" or 4" factory lift?
Not sure but it’s lifted for sure and it has its own Blackhawk Bilstein adjustable suspension.
5) Which tires?
Goodyear wrangler territory AT 35”
LT325/65R18

With destination, $85,500. Was able to get it for about $5k off
8) Black on gray??? interior?
black on black. Has some carbon fiber and alcantara-type trim. Passenger screen, ventilated and massaging seats. Very premium feeling.

Thanks brother! Will do

I tried the hands free driving today on the interstate.
It works! I was totally shocked as I’ve never had a vehicle able to do this. Well there was a bmw and Mercedes but I had to hold the wheel every few seconds. This is legit. It even switches lanes when you hit the blinker.
I’m not really a cruise control type guy but this was impressive nonetheless and on a long trip I may use this.

Very nice… So basically it's a TRX body it looks like. Very cool. Enjoy your new truck!
Thank you. It’s basically a TRX with the hurricane HO I6 instead of the Hellcat V8. Pretty much identical with a few of the newer 2025 tech upgrades and luxuries.

Got these Go Rhino RB20 running boards installed. They have bedliner finish and seem to be great quality. The factory mopar ones were double the price so I’m happy with these.
I kinda missed the old factory power steps from my 2500 but this suits the RHO pretty well. IMG_6175.jpeg

Just ordered a set of the slim today. Did you get the regular or slim?

Our local dealer has one, all black, looks great, but not $73K great.

What's your payload/towing capacity please?

Is it a usable vehicle?

Extremely useable. It’s my daily driver and work vehicle.
Does it all. Obviously not 2500/3500 capable but it drives like a sport SUV and has a crazy off road suspension.
And the looks are to die for, in my opinion. According to google its payload is 1500lbs and towing 8300lbs. Payload was not that far off my 2500 rebel Cummins. I don’t really tow so for me the usability hasn’t worsened.

Only downside is that she’s got some wide hips so parking is a bit more challenging. But that’s to be expected with something that looks this good.

I think it’s a great value for the way it drives, the factory fender flares, 35” tires with perfect flush appearance, off road adjustable suspension setup, high output hurricane, etc.

Appreciate the response. Your payload is noted in your door sticker, and to get the exact towing capacity I'd contact RAM. They used to have an option online, but I can't find it anymore.

Payload is tricky with a "1500 series" truck. Sure, you might have a heavy payload, but can the truck (weight, brakes, suspension, etc) really handle that payload? My 2500 Rebel Cummins may not have a great payload, but it is light years better in handling my camper than my 1500 was, with a similar payload. It's night and day difference...no comparison.
