Trucks-wise, I’ve had a Ford Raptor, multiple 5.7 hemi 1500 Rebels, and just came out of a 2024 2500 Rebel Cummins. It was a great truck but I wasn’t towing so it made no sense to have all that extra mass, size, and maintenance.
The RHO is very impressive. It pretty much does it all, but mostly, I really love how luxurious and comfortable it is. Self driving with ventilated messaging seats in an off road pickup truck? Totally insane. But when I want to push it to rush somewhere, I can really move. It’s surprising how well it handles. It still has a loose off-road based suspension but man does it keep it together on the streets, all things considered.
Overall it’s an amazing daily driver. Hope it’s as reliable as all my other trucks have been.
I just got it tinted and already ordered some go rhino running boards. I’m pretty sure I won’t mod anything else on it as it literally looks perfect. Some more sound (intake for turbo noise) might be interesting but not sure I’d want to sacrifice the warranty for that. But we will see what the future holds as I literally have modded every vehicle I’ve owned.
The hurricane motor is interesting. In some ways, it really suits a truck as an inline turbo makes sense. It’s smooth and quiet and never feels overworked. But it also feels like it belongs in a BMW. It even sounds like one (especially the WOT shift noise). In sport mode, it has an almost European feel to it.
Now, back to the 2500…it was great. I just was not using the towing at all. The payload capacity is close enough that this RHO can handle what I need it to. But the driving characteristics are night and day. It drives like a performance suv, not a truck. Plus I felt like my 2500 was starting to have some issues. The differential was leaking (fixed twice by dealer), the transmission had some terrible clunk noises and harsh shifts so I wasn’t sure if that would last, and the motor itself had a very bad loud clicking sound that would come and go. Not to mention the headache of dealing with frequent regens or being worried about idling. But regardless of all that, for my use and needs, this truck as a daily driver is superb and beyond my expectations.
I was cross shopping this with a new Rebel, AT4X, Ford Raptor, and a Raptor 37. I’m extremely happy I went this route and do not regret my decision one bit.
Feel free to ask any questions.
