About to swap mine out... they are shot. (front axel joints)

Just wonering if there was any tricks of the trade or anything I should be catious of. From what I've read and seen this shouldn't be to bad...but this is my first SFA truck so I figured I'd ask.

I helped a buddy with his second gen
Take off the wheel, caliper and axle nut and then there are four bolts on the back side of the knuckle that hold the bearing on, unbolt those and you can remove the rotor and bearing as one, much easier then pullin the rotor, especially if your bearings are still good. Unbolt the tie rod end line up the knuckle with te shaft an slide the axle out.
Of course it'll be much easier with a press and a can of pb blaster!
I'm guessing 140k-150k miles is the life of the stickers, my girlfriend just had hers replaced about a month and a half ago

Thanks...thats the way I was reading it. Simple like a pretty straight forward process.

We got a ball joint press that works great for U joints also.

Thanks again

Yeah not bad at all with the right tools, a little time consuming doing both sides. I think the hardest part was getting the axle but off lol

Gonna be a good experience. I'm ready to know everything about this truck like I knew on my 03 1500

Hope you have better luck than me. My hub nuts were on there good took a 12' cheater pipe and a 3/4" breaker bar and socket to get that ******* off. So good luck to ya. Oh and that hub nut uses a serious socket. Just saying.

Sent from my apple torching Droid.

I was using a press at work to put the u joint into place but was dumb and had washers right under it rather that on the fitting and crushed the U joint.... Don't do that.

I recommend moog joints. You can get them at Oreillys. And I can possibly give you a deal on them

I 2nd this life time guarantee on moog get the fixed ball joint don't get the camber adjustable one..
An the 4 bolt knuckle on mine was a ***** to get off
