Might be normal but when my truck shifts into second it will gain like 500 rpm then either hold that rpm for a few seconds while gaining speed or the RPM's will drop 200 then keep going. Seems odd to me but might be normal so I had to ask. Truck has the 6 speed by the way

My 8 speed does this when it's cold and im being very light on the throttle. Has a slight lag between the 1-2 shift, and the rpm will jump up a tad before 2nd gear is engaged. It resumes shifting totally normal once there's a little heat in the trans.

It only happens in second gear. The rpms will drop and it'll shift then gain 500rpm or so then the rpm won't change but the truck will keep gaining speed then after a few seconds it will start to gain rpms again? Also noticed it won't do it with tow haul on. Any ideas what it could be?

Probably best to take a video of what you're talking about, upload to youtube and post the link here.

You can see right around 2000 rpm it'll drop back down a hair then keep going

Here's a better link so you can watch it from Ram Forum.

That's weird though, I'll have a look at mine today to see if it does that.

That seems strange, for the record 2nd and 2nd prime(3rd) are only ~500 rpm's apart. Mine did something similar around 3000, but it was only after I installed a 3000 stall. Changed the part throttle shifts point to hold second a little longer and it was fixed. Do you have a tuner??

Yeah I have a tuner but this is also a 6 speed and won't do it will tow haul is on so I'm gunna ask Sean about maybe firming up 1-2 shift and maybe lock the tc converter up a bit quicker

You can play with your part throttle upshift in "modify your tune" and raise the rpm at certain % of throttle.
