I am looking at swapping a 5.2 Magnum into my ’99 Ram 1500 WS. I currently have a very tired 3.9 V6 and NV3500, and I’d like to stick with the manual transmission.
I’ve been looking around the Web, and of course the more I look the more confused I get.
My take on this is that I will need to pull the entire V8 engine harness and PCM, then have the PCM re-flashed to accommodate a manual transmission. A stock flash should be adequate for a Comp 206º computer-compatible cam with cat-forward headers, a free-flow cat, and Dynomax R/T dual exhaust, as I understand it.
Am I overlooking anything? Who is a dependable source for a re-flash?
