Problem:
The instrument cluster started chiming erratically, the Speedometer and Tachometer dropped to 0, and the ‘Check Gauges’ light came on for an instant only for everything to return back to normal.

This happened intermittently, sometimes as frequently as every two seconds.

Solution:
(This has worked so far, but a few more days of driving should verify. Will update if it turns out the problem resurfaces.)

Two corroded pins on C6 of the TIPM caused intermittent CAN Bus signal failure to the instrument cluster.

Replacing the connector on the wiring harness seems to have resolved the issue.

side note: if anyone knows how to de-pin these specific connectors, I’d love to know how as they are different from any I’ve worked with in the past.

I have the same exact issue going on. 2003 2500 4x4 w/ 5.9. Where will I find the corroded pins you found? Is that on the back of the cluster? Whats the TIPM?

Thank you
