Which gears do you have? 8speed or 6speed tranny?

I have the Hemi with 8sp, 3.92 and LSD, I drive very aggressive to say the least :Big Laugh:
What year is your truck? For us who want a gear swap and have to look into doing a front diff swap off a 2010 model. Is it possible to swap the front diff from a newer model like yours and get the 392s. In the front and just do a 392 swap for the rear. Mine has 321s 2017 with an 8speed. I guess I’m saying is why can’t the front gears be swapped out from our diffs that we newer guys have to swap out to a 2010 diff to get what we want as far as gears go? Hope this makes sense

Mine is a 2017 too and yes you can find a newer one with 3.92 and just swap that in

The front ring gear is welded to the carrier and thats why its not a easy swap.

I’m gonna go 37s soon and don’t want to swap the diff with an older one due to warranty reasons but if I swap in a 2017 392 diff the dealer may never even know. Just sayin

Ya but your plan is 37x13.50 on 20x12, that’s a heavy mass trying to turn so you’ll probably need the 4.56

Besides when they see the tires/wheels they can always say that’s what burned up your tranny so there goes your warranty anyway even with your 3.21

I'm surprised that no one has figured out how to defeat the welded ring gear.

Anybody have a pic?

Is that what’s the problem..... it’s welded?

Yup, that’s why I made sure to buy a truck with the 3.92 gears, hell my previous 2011 RCSB with roll up windows had the 3.92 gears lol

I thought on newer models you guys could swap to 3.92's on the front. It was the aftermarket gears that give you the problem.

It's the first thing lots of us think about and the last thing some think about, until we start talking about the difference in performance---then it's almost to late to change unless you wanna spend big bucks.

You can. But you have to find a whole new diff that has the 3.92 gears in it. Then it’s a direct swap.

Yup I never did any research on it before I got this truck used. I just knew it was optioned right and was the right price. If I had 3.92 gears I still would’ve done the re-gear though.

My only regret in re-gearing was when I put 5.13's in my 57 Chevy I raced in the early '60's. WWWWWWWay to much gear----4.88's did a lot better.

So @69GWC pointed out that royal purple is not the greatest.

What would be the best off the shelf option for gear oil?

Edit: I answered my own question. Turns out the NAPA near me carries Amsoil
