4.7 engine

I have a 2010 Dodge ram 4.7 I can't fine very many upgraded parts I can some but not alot but for the 99-08 4.7 the parts are all over. I want to know the difference between the 2 generations of the engine or if the parts are compadable

LOTS of changes for the last gen of the 4.7. Big upgrade in power and torque, 2 plugs per cylinder... the list goes on. Not a lot of parts compatibility between the generations. I had an 09 4x4 with the 4.7 and it seemed fine for what I used it for.

So when airram.com ends there years at 2008 and that's when the said the redesign was would the engine from 2008 be the same as the 2010

Yes, 08 was the first year for the redesigned 4.7. There never was really a whole lot of aftermarket for the 4.7 and the 08+ is pretty much the high watermark. Recam or boost.

Okay because I have the 310 hp engine the heads have the ho on them so but I was really just looking to do the injectors throttle body and intake for now

Don't know why, but there never was much aftermarket support for any version of the 4.7.

They also changed the exhaust port lay-out on the 08+ engines,so there's no such thing as off the shelf headers for them.I pulled just under 250 hp out of my old 13 with all the commonly available 4.7 bolt-ons and 5 hours of dyno time.Would I do it again,nope,it would of been cheaper in the long run to trade the truck off for a hemi truck,lol.Here's a link to my old 13

They used it in a lot of vehicles for a while - the Ram, Dakota, Vans... The 2nd gen 4.7 seemed pretty decent, and the last gen was great power wise. As I recall, the previous gen of the 5.7 was just a little above that last gen 4.7.

Well ultimately it was just not fuel efficient enough in the 1500. The 4.7 put out 310 hp starting in 2008 while the Hemi put out 345 hp and the Hemi got better MPG.

Then in 2009 the 5.7 was upgraded to 395 hp and still got better MPG. With the introduction of that 3.6 pentastar engine that is pushing out 300 hp the 4.7 was doomed.

All true, IIRC the last gen of the 4.7 was rated within 20 HP of the pre 4 the gen hemi. Obviously there was plenty of untapped power in the earlier 4.7s, but the aftermarket never bothered to support the engine.

My little 2013 4.7 was actually surprising for power above 3500 rpm,under that it was pretty much a dog though.After dyno tuning it would easily pass untuned stock Hemi's wide open,and would give them a run for the money from about 30 mph and up.

Not sure,I got rid of the truck shortly after that,and it had just under 20,000 clics on it,or roughly about 12,000 miles,lol. Thought about putting a 75 shot of nitrous on it to generate a bit more torque,but never got around to it. A farmer bought it for his 17 year old son,and I've never seen the truck since,so i'm not sure if it's still alive or not,i asked the dealer about it,but of course they won't tell you much these days do to privacy concerns.

Had a 2005 and a 2006 with 4.7, 5 speed and 392 gears before I got my 2011 Hemi. The 2006 had k and n drop in filter flowmaster 50 delta flow muffler with single exhaust and superchips cortex tuner. both had 235 hp rating. 2006 ran 15.5 in quarter mile. got over 20 mpg on highway with 93 octane. Ran and sounded good. Put 85,000 trouble free miles on it before getting 2011. Also had a Tornado insert that went in throttle body to redirect airflow, worked pretty good. At track would keep up with Hemi's for eight mile but 4.7 didn't have enough torque to keep up with Hemi. Good little motors in my opinion.

That was one of the issues of using the 4.7 for a truck - it liked to rev.

Not quite lol, 310hp vs 345hp...the more important difference being torque and the ability of the cylinder heads to pump air. Now one way 4.7's do really seem to respond is boost. I haven't seen turbos, but AIRRAM has an adapter to put the Eaton blower from a Cobra Mustang on a 4.7...I have seen this done on at least one 2002. I think if you build a decent short block you can put some good boost to it but it takes a lot of work and fab sorting everything out. Sad thing is I think the 3.5L in the LX's got more love than the poor 4.7; Inertia has (had?) stroker kits as well as big valve heads and custom cams for them.

I was under the impression Airrams adapter for the Eaton wouldn't work on the redesigned 08+ heads,but I could be wrong.

That I do not know, but the '08+ intake manifold bolts on to the older heads (performance upgrade), sooooo....?
