After the Firestone crappers on my 2014 2500 wore out at 28K I went for a set 4 season tires. These come with the snowflake emblem so they qualify as traction devices if/when required. I'm in a part of Oregon where we don't get a lot of snow or ice but it does happen.

We got about 4" last night and I got my first chance to test out these tires. Overall, I'm impressed and amazed. I was able to accelerate up steep grades in 4WD with very little slippage and could hammer the brakes with the anti-locks rarely kicking in.

I got them at Les Schwab and I think they are a Toyo brand. At $1200 for the set they aren't exactly cheap but I REALLY like not having to swap tires in the winter and potentially mess with a whole other set of rims like I have in the past.

Another fun part of the snow is the chance to drive in 4LO. I was up and down the hills around my house (about a 700 elevation change) and I don't think I touched the brakes. That 1st gear is so low you can roll down a steep grade at less than 2MPH. At least if I ever did hit something I would barely be moving :)

The snow is sure pretty but I'm over it..... kids are off school. Work got canceled. I'm just sitting here looking out the window. How early is too early to start drinking beer and not be considered to have a problem? :favorites13:

nice to hear you have great performance, but it would be nice to know brand/size/model number of tires as I have to make a tire decision soon...

I searched tirerack dot com and there are no Toyo tires listed for '14 2500 RAM...

I suspect you find these are good tires for hiway also? Do they make much noise at hiway speeds?

Load range E tires often cost $300 plus/tire...

can you post more tire details?

It turns out they are manufactured by Wild Country and are the Radial XTX. I got them at Les Schwab and a lot of their stuff is Toyo and I forgot these weren't.

Size is LT 275 70R 18 E 10Ply

Highway driving is nice and quiet, wet traction is great and snow/ice continues to be great. I've put a couple hundred miles of ice and snow driving since my original post and am just amazed at how well they grip.

My only fear is the wear. At 20K miles it's too soon to tell if they are going to wear quickly so we'll see. I've run several sets of Michelins but was just looking to try something new. Also, Les Schwab tires is super popular in my area and they have a store in every small and large town I ever drive to. So, I'm paying for some convenience if I ever have a problem. That was probably the biggest factor in my decision. I've always bought wife's tires there so she and the kids could get taken care of in an emergency. The 4 season thing really sold me too. On my last truck I did the whole extra set of rims and swapped them out. It was nice but certainly a lot of work and hassle storing and extra set of wheels.

Some pictures are attached.... sorry they are so dirty. It's so damn cold and snowy here if I tried to clean a tire it would get frozen to the ground.

6.7 cummins
I have a 2014 2500 Cummins. This is my 3rd 2500 Ram diesel. It is my first auto. The first 2 trucks I got 60,000 miles on tires. Mostly Cooper Discoverer. This truck, at 78,000 miles I am on my third set of tires (Firestone original, Cooper, Goodyear). I've done 4 wheel alignments and checked everything I can think of. I do some heavy towing but I did that with my 2001. I am a fairly gentle driver as I sold the 2001 with 275,000 miles and the original clutch. Any ideas??? The only differences are this is an auto and the 6.7 has a bunch of low end torque.

richb...

you have picked a 2 1/2 year old thread... but I am again thinking about tires, so your post caught my eye... I put LTX Michelin tires on, 275-60-20 I think is the size... I just went past 80K miles and the tread looks like it might be good for another 15-20K. That will put me at 65-70K miles for the Michelins.

I bought them at Costco which when they put Michelin on sale, which they do at least 6X a year... the set mounted and balanced with lifetime rotation and balance AND road hazard insurance was around $900... this was at least $75 cheaper then any other dealer price I could find for those same tires. Since then I know tire prices have gone up... so I will be again looking for a good deal.

I certainly am happy with the performance and pricing of the Michelin LTX tires, but I again am going to look to finding Toyo tires in my size. I understand that Toyo is being more aggressive making different sizes with good pricing... more so then even two years ago when Toyo did not make my size.

I only have the 5.7 hemi, with 8 speed auto, and I tow a bumper pull TT about 5,000# maybe 5,000 miles a year and most of my driving is hiway driving.

My OEM tires, Wranglers, only lasted 30K miles. That was surprising to me as previously I had loved my GY Wranglers and have bought them before for my previous TV which were 150 and 350 Dodge vans.
