Okay, I am an engineer and got way into this... Here is a list comparing all the high/low bulb replacements for a gen4 without projector lights. This is solely based what I could find on each product page, noting that the title information (mainly lumens) didn't always align with the description. Can anyone chime in with what bulbs they got and how they like them?

I plugged this into Microsoft Copilot and it said for quad reflector style housing, lumens isn't the deciding category. It said to high lumens will scatter light, blind drivers, and be an issue in snow (big deal for me in ND). It said 60K Lumens is ideal and no more than 100K, can anyone confirm that is true?

Those lumen values sound out to lunch.

IIRC, I have 9 or 10k lumen bulbs in low beams with my Projector housings and about 14k lumens in the high beams.

They're insanely bright and I suspect if you go larger than about 9k or 10k lumens in the low beams with Quads, the oncoming traffic will be blinded.

I would say the ideal solution would be to buy OE Projector housings from a junk yard and use those.

The Projector housings have a lens in front of the low beams that I believe reduces the light scatter effect, which otherwise could contribute to blinding the oncoming traffic.

Also, check your state laws. Many do not allow LED upgrades to OEM lighting.

What bulb brand/model did you go with?

I don't know about that but I have a 2017 with Quads. In 2018 I put 10,000LM Novsight leds in the low beams and they still work great. No blinding other drivers. Just a solid light pattern and definitive cut-off line.

I believe that headlight alignment is critical with LEDs, to avoid being 'That guy' who blinds oncoming traffic. This is the alignment video I used.

I'm currently about 27 months of continuous use with my current Farhen LED's (highs & lows) in my Warlock, and they work flawlessly!

Great bulbs, great quality, great light output and cut off.
One just needs to ensure that they are clocked properly and aimed properly as well.

Did dodge fix the incompatibility of LEDs with the computer? I killed the left and right "head light driver outputs" on my 2006 Ram by putting in LED bulbs. I had to hard wire a pair of switches and bypass the whole headlight switch to turn on my main headlights and to flip back and forth from high to low.

It was that, or spend $900 on the power distribution center with all the relays soldered to a circuit board.

I have had the same experience with my 2017 SLT. I put it 10k lumen LEDs in 2019 and it was night and day (literally) in improved visibility with no indication that it's bothering oncoming drivers. I have to wear yellow glasses at night to prevent blinding from the new factory headlights, many of which aren't even single bulbs.

rvance, I know the problem, My glasses have little magnets in the frames to hold my clip on sun glasses, I have a pair in the truck and car, but they are dark enough I can't see the info on the dash in the day time.
I wanted my eye place to order yellow and they said it is not legal to or some such B.S. those clip on are about 40.oo each, but work good .
I have over the frame yellow glasses that kind of go over my reg glasses , but don't work that great.

I am still running the factory lights in my 2014 spot and keep thinking I should get new bulbs for them, but haven't done it yet.

You might want to quit procrastinating on that LED upgrade before we can't get them anymore.

The Feds just concluded a survey last month about the glare created by LED lights on Canadian roads at night.

I will bet the average compact car user will promote no use of LED lights in larger SUVs and pickup trucks. This study may or may not impact the availability of aftermarket LED headlight bulbs, but I plan to get a few extra bulbs.

Who knows if existing builds will be grandfathered in? Not too likely.

Hopefully, we can keep LEDs in the highbeam position, but again, tough to say how these things will resolve.

There appears to be a trend around here for the later generation SuperDuty guys to play with the upper and lower lamps. I'm not sure which is correct, but some have the upper low beam on and others have the upper as high beam. When they're both on you are forced to look away or slow down to near zero.
