Sweet...there is a place down here called "Twisted Metal Offroad" who specialize in Cummins swaps. They have done Hummers, Jeeps...all kinds of different things.

Eh not from my experience
I helped a buddy put one in a jeep, I wouldn't put it anything bigger then a mid size truck
It weighed in around 3500 lbs so that truck has a good 1500lbs on it i'd guess
the motor weighs about as much as a big block Chevy and only run about 120-140 hp and 350 ft-lb stock and dont like to be pushed much more then 200 hp

Only thig I would think that trucks good for is fuel mileage

That's awesome.

I know I've seen several 4bt's putting out a helluva lot more HP than 200. No where near the capabilities of a 5.9, but still not too shabby.

I haven't looked into them since last summer but I only saw 2 or 3 with numbers higher then 250 hp and these guys were pushing 70-80psi of boost and egts of 1800-2000 degrees
Anything more 220-240 that start overheating
To get anymore then then you need a ridiculous full pump and a cooling system to match
They can be pushed to 350-400 hp (with nitrous/methanol injection)
I don't think I've seen a fuel only dyno over 250-260 hp
Of course like anything, with enough money it could be done

I wanted to swap a 4BT into my '00 Ram. I think it would have been perfect. Pull up hills like a freight train, and just honker down and cruise the rest of the time.

I think the 4BT is the ideal 1/2 ton truck motor personally.
Run that puppy on B90 all day long!

I had every intention of putting one in my '84 K20, but changed my mind when I discovered how poorly balanced they are. The guys that have ran them for a while have problems with windshields cracking and other things.

You can actually get them balanced out fairly easily. Stock they vibrate like a crappy chainsaw, but Ive seen a few worked on that run smooth as silk (or as smooth as a cummins will run at idle)
