BTW, Motive gears are not bad, but certainly not my first choice.
OEM are much higher grade, but you PAY more, and 4.10 front is not an option
(Dodge never made an R/T in a 4x4)

Motive gears look like some one cut them with an angle grinder (IMHO)
well, to be fair that was over 10 years ago, so maybe they are better now.

Yukon makes a nice R&P set, but again you have to pay more.

In my previous 4x4's I almost always went with Yukon or Dana/Spicer 4.56's and ARB Air Lockers both diffs.
The one and only time I used Motive gears I sheered several teeth off the rear pinion that took out the whole rear diff.

No warranty because I bought them from a discount supplier outlet instead of the shop who installed them.
Each pointed the finger at the other
Bad Gears> vs <Bad install, How do I prove who was really at fault???
I couldn't and had to pay to have it redone with the install shop supplying and installing.

Only options are Motive and OEM?

Even if the install was majorly fubared it wouldn't cause teeth to sheer off of the pinion. The only way that happens is the teeth aren't strong enough to take the torque.

Bingo!

try to convince someone to pay for them when they fail though
...and torque was provided by a bone stock 01' 4.0L Jeep inline 6

I got all my parts from Moe's. The back end is all Chrysler. The front is Motive. The Motive gears looked to be at least as high quality as the Chrysler. The Motive gear and pinion was packaged very nicely in a styrofoam insert in their box. I think Chrysler just throws their stuff in a box, and the ring and pinion are free to bang around into each other. Of the two gear sets that I got, the Motive looked better.

OP, if you pull the trigger on gears, be certain to educate yourself on the "Anti Spin Diff". The ASD works OK as long as you are moving foreward already. Just don't think that you're getting anything that remotely acts like a locker. It's slightly better than an open diff. Wether it's worth the price or not? That's a toss up. I guess I'll get most of my money back out of it if and when I sell the truck.

I've often been tempted to do a Detroit Locker. Is anybody running one of these in their daily driver? I don't know of anyone with one, so I don't know what it'd be like to live with one every day, all year long. With the All Wheel Drive mode that these trucks have, it stands to reason that it would work well even on snow and ice covered roads.

An Eaton Detroit Locker is harsh and does not have good street manners,
you would have tires binding and chirping around corners if you have any throttle pressure.
But it's a Beast off road. Only thing better is a Spool or ARB.

but the Detroit TruTrac is an entirely different animal, a limited slip that is virtually invisible on the street.
it will send power to the wheel with traction when the other side starts spinning.
(open differential sends most of the power to the tire with the least traction)

In 2010 the factory limited slip was provided by Auburn,
and only came on the 3.92 equipped Rams.
if the OP has 3.55's in his 10', its' an Open carrier, 1 wheel peel, 1 tire fire etc....

The stock LSD, aka anit-spin is better than open, but
It's weakness is that its a cone/clutch pack system that requires friction modifier,
and the clutches eventually wear out and need replacing.

The Detroit TruTrac operates very similar to a stock LSD/anti spin system
but has a spring loaded Helical Gear engage system, no maintenance required.
Do it once, do it right ...or don't bother re-gearing at all.

and before anyone asks, you can not put a locker or limited slip in the front on a 4x4 1500
Need to step up to a HD solid front axle Ram for one of those (stronger axle housing)

I was wanting a Tru Trac, but I was told it didn't fit, or some such thing. <that was the original reason for tearing into the differentials. I'd still like to have one. The 4.10s made it all worthwhile.

Those are some wild Jeep pics. I'll bet you re pretty good at braking stuff. Lol.

Ha! Now I know what DTT means!

I did my first ever burn out with the truck today in celebration of having the 500 break in miles on the gears complete. The truck left two once black marks, made smoke. It sure was fun!
