4x4 inop

I need a little help. My 02 gen 3 will not go into 4x4. The switch does nothing when turned, and my service 4wd light is on constantly. The truck has a new tranny, and a full service done on the drive train. So I need some trouble shooting tips maybe suggestions? Thanks in advance.
