I am running out of ideas on this thing, so any suggestions would be appreciated! I have a 2003 1500 with the 5.9 Magnum.
My wife backed the truck out of the driveway and got about 10 fee onto the road when it quit working. I got it back into the driveway and started trying to diagnose it. It turns over, no sounds of even attempting to fire.
Here is a list of what I tried:
Checked fuses and swapped important relays. No start.
Checked for spark at the coil, there is spark.
Sprayed some ether into the intake, no start or change of sound.
Checked spark on Cyl 1, I was not seeing any.
Replaced wires, cap, rotor and spark plugs. No start/change.
Tried ether again, no change.
Pulled ASD relay and cranked for about 20 seconds to clear cylinders. (It was smelling of fumes, thought maybe flooded?)
Put relay back in and cranked some more. No change
Pulled spark plug and got Cyl 1 at TDC.
Checked position of rotor and it felt like it is pointing at Cyl 1.
Checked each wire to make sure it was on the correct post of the cap for the Cyl it was connected to.
Cranked some more, no change.
Cranking sound sounds normal to me.
Pulled Cyl 1's plug and watched spark carefully. It looks like it is sparking at a regular interval while the engine is cranking (Does not look like it may be missing spark/erratic)
This thing has me completely baffled. Any ideas? Am I missing something obvious?
