Not that bad actually. The rears were done in 20 minutes. The fronts took me about a hour and a half. Luckily I work at a dealership and have access to a lift, spring compressor and air tools.

I had some 2" aluminum spacers there before. After removal the 285/65R20 BFGoodrich All Terrains do not scrub anymore. The 8 year old struts must have been a little tired haha.

No problems with the lower strut mount bushing?

Thanks! Not at all. The only issue I had was getting the spring seats off of the factory strut but a lick with a air hammer made it easy

Looks good, and much better option than the spacer. I am sure you feel the improved ride!

Does the 06 and 07 have the same front suspension on the 4x4?
I have an 07 and def need new rear shocks but may attempt to try the front ones before too long

Truck looks really good, you're lucky you could do it yourself. My truck was just rusted beyond belief so a shop had to work on it.

OK thanks, I have about 100K on my truck, changed the stock shocks around 65k. I let a local shop do the fronts back then b/c they looked intimidating. However, when I change them again I would like to do them myself. Is there any special tools I would need or any words of advice on tackling the front?

I've been looking at the Bilstein 5100s from recommendations of others on here. Am I correct in saying that with these front shocks if you re-install them with the ring in the uppermost position it will level out the front of the truck (around 2-3") with everything else still stock? Thanks so much!

On 2006-2008 the front Struts have a max lift of 2". There are 3 settings with like .67 being the lowest. There are really no special tools besides a spring press that I used. I work at a Chevy dealership so I had access to power tools and a lift. If your truck is rusted I suggest spraying the bolts with PB Blaster or some sort of rust inhibitor. The toughest thing that I ran into was getting the stock spring seat off of the old strut. I had a air hammer don't for me and worked great. I suggest getting an alignment dine afterwards. Mine was off a little after I finished. Good luck and it's not that bad once you get going on it. Do the rear first for a confidence booster! If have any more questions PM me and I'll help as much as I can.

Looks nice, I am going to take out my spacer and opt for the 5100. With a ranch bumper the truck ride is pretty harsh.

It really is impressive how different my truck rides. I have 75k on it currently and the old struts and shocks were OE. They still seemed ok but taking those spacers out made a huge difference. They were always squeaking over a series of bumps. That alone is worth the money to me.
