So the shop that is doing my lift called me and left me a message. i couldn't understand what he was trying to explain to me but what i think i got out of it is:

with the zone lift he put the back in with the upgraded 5'' bds springs. he says that they are having a tough time with the 5100's in the front putting the clip at the second setting from the top (which i believe is the 2.1 setting, where i told him to set them to) and getting the springs to compress enough to get the nut on. he says that the way it looks is if he sets it to 2.1 and puts everything in, the front of the truck will be 3'' nose high..... it doesn't make sense to me. He also said that it seems as if the 5100 wont have any compression. ( as in every time i hit a pothole or something the truck will bottom out on the spacer/or the bump stop. i forget what he said.) He also mentioned something about the spacer for the front is 3 inches added on to the 5100's and it will make the front really nose high. This shop has done 100's of lifts and i have never had an issue with them. So i dont know if my 5100's are bad or they messed up sending me the correct zone lift. Does this sound like an issue someone else has had? or is he doing something wrong? im literally at a loss for words because i haven't seen the truck since i dropped it off tuesday, and now i wont have it back until monday, If it gets done.
I wish i could go look at the truck so i have a better idea of what the issue is but this is all i have to go by. if anyone knows what the issue might be or if they have a 5100 install post that i can send him for my 2011 1500, that would be amazing.

I just want my truck back!

I have 5100's with my Zone 4" but they're only set at 0.7". With the 6" lift you have an optional preload spacer, so first thing is first - you need to determine if the shop is trying to install that in addition, as I believe it's good for another inch of lift.

A 6" Zone kit yields 5" of measurable lift in the front without the spacer. The trucks have about 2.5" of rake factory - so if you're setting your Bilsteins at 2.1" in conjunction with the spacer, you'll probably be a little bit nose high but keep in mind even if your truck measures level, it will look nose high. Take a look at my gallery, I have 3/4" of rake and my truck looks level.

Also, Bilstein's work by increasing preload on the spings, so as your tech said - with the bilsteins and spacer you'll have little spring compression. HOWEVER, I don't see why he cannot get it to work.

I'm assuming you're doing the 6" lift.... The spacer on the 6" is 4 5/8" + 1" Optional Pre-load rubber spacer.

As far as install - it's not hard at all. Your tech certainly shouldn't need a how-to, if he does he is incompetent and you should take your truck elsewhere.

So I should have him just install the 5100 at 2.1 and not install the spacer that comes with the kit?

That's what I would do. You're running a 6" kit?

I could sworn that you shouldn't install the Bilstiens with any spacer what so ever. Because the Bilstiens shock is doing what spacer is supposed to do but with better ride and the fact it's adjustable for height.

From the lift kits I'm looking at its an option for either Bilstiens or spacers in the front.

Wait a second... I'm posting from an iPhone?

Like MiRamDriver and Sladrade stated, I am pretty certain all lifts I have seen on the forums, you can't install the preload spacer if you are using bilsteins. That is probably the problem.

If you use the search feature, you will find many threads discussing Zone lifts. Yes they are good lifts.

it sounds to me like you should ditch the optional preload spacer.

okay so with my 6' zone lift, i have the 4 5/8 spacer, and then optional 1'' spacer. which one should i have installed and which one should i leave off, in order to run the bilsteins at 2.1? should i remove both spacers, should i only use the 1'' or should i use the 4 5/8.

Don't use the 1" preload spacer with the Bilsteins

okay so i will just install the 5100's at 2.1 and the 4 5/8 spacer that comes with the lift kit and leave out the 1'' preload spacer.

drop the spacer the 5100 set at 2.1 will get the nose up
maybe the combo of the 5100's and the spacers are the issue
