545RFE wheel hop

Hi everyone! Looking for some help on this.... Driving along the freeway today and I noticed a violent wheel hop when I hit the passing gear. Felt like the truck was doing bunny hops under WOT. My tranny is bone stock, other than Amsoil SS and a Hemifever tune. Any ideas what this might be?

Being an '09 you could have a lot of miles on it too.

Maybe bushings and shocks need replacement?

Being an '09 you could have a lot of miles on it too.

It's got 46000 miles on it. Replaced the shocks and springs with a ground force 2" 3" drop kit two years ago, but I'll check out the shocks to rule it out. Maybe the pan hard bar bushings??

Update: Ok, checked out the rear suspension " upper, lower control arms, pan hard bar and shocks " all looks good. Thank you guys for your ideas!

Are you sure it wasnt your transmission skipping, and not wheel hop?

Down shift stutter is the first sign your OD clutches are wearing out.
If you have a tuner you'll eventually get these codes:

I'll be cracking my original transmission and replacing my OD clutch packs within the next couple weeks.

I'm just waiting on parts and my ATSG 545RFE manual to arrive

I thought you had a built trans thats being shoe horned in BRH?

Hey BRH, looks like you might be right.... Man I hope you're wrong lol. Felt like a violent shake at WOT after shifting into 4th gear. Did you get the same experience when your Trans took a dump?

LOL, I'm a racer (with a pos 545RFE) and a Supercharger

Need 3 transmissions


1 in the truck
1 ready to replace it
1 on the bench being rebuilt

rotate as required

Right now I've got Two (missing the middle one lol)
and they are both dead with burnt OD clutches
Both being rebuilt within the next month with parts from L&M Customs

I destroyed my new trans within 2 weeks by running it without proper tuning
did not use a quick learn, and the High Stall TC (ATS 3k Triple Lok) was too hard on the OD clutches.

I like your way of thinking and I wouldn't imagine it would be to hard to put some decent clutches in and start waiting for hard parts to break lol.

Do you think an after market TQ like an edge 2800 will cause tranny problems on 2012?
I run all motor with a KN Intake a 4:10 gears no chip.
