The weaknesses in the RFE is valve body, this is a great video. They sell a plate, you sound like a guy that wants the best, so a plate instead of a gasket would be the way to go. Also can look into GM solenoid upgrade. I don't know if sharadon still builds them, they are a good source for valve bodies.

Now, many guys will say upgrade to the 8 speed, rick aka wildone will chime in or I'll call him. I have no info on this, I like the RFE, but I admit I am in the small camp on that. Since you bought the converter sounds like you are just replacing or rebuilding RFE?

.

.
I found one in a junkyard close to my house for 300$cad and have 225000km on it and honestly I’m thinking on getting it and try to upgrade it I’m also bringing it to a shop to diagnose it for good and see if I can save it which I doubt at this point, and see how
Much is the rebuild and go from there, now if any other recommendation I will take I appreciate it a lot

This is the best metal thread upgrade, many RAM members have bought that one, a must have cheap part when the plastic ones fail they take tranny with it. Get the Mopar sump filter with pink valve nub on it. This exact one, see purple valve second photo, true Mopar part. Redline c+ is a great fluid upgrade. You can leave that Mopar sump on for a long interval even two intervals, and redline c+ you can use on an extended interval. The only part that isn't good for a long interval if you chose is the canister filter, Mopar sump filter needed, see options for synthetic filter, knock paint off. Mopar sump filter, redline c+, spun glass filter for canister, you can go many many more miles then on any other strategy.

So I looked into the valve body plate and they sell the whole kit for 1k, however I had in mind after doing research on replacing the pressure switch, and accumulator and the valve body gasket, for sure I will go for the kit of sump that you said and the thread upgrade as is cheap, I will look into the other spin on filter as well, and I have valvoline fluid already but for next interval k will get the redline c+, now if I get the cheap route of getting the junkyard one and I do the valve body fix and filters and it has 235k km on it it should be fine for a little while right. Or I should right a head on rebuild, I’m thanks for your time I appreciate it

Do a search of wrecking yards, you should be able to find a lower milege rfe. Check with Saskatchewan Government Insurance Salvage, they're one of the bigger wreckers in Canada, and they ship anywhere. They used the RFE in Canada up till 2019,so there's lots of them out there,it shouldn't be hard to find one with alot less miles on it,then the one you're looking at.

Mike aka @Burla knows more about them then i do,he should know what you'd need to swap to make the later 6 speed versions work.

Hey guys, I did all the things that you guys recommended I will install the tranny at the end of the month, I’m also dropping the lines to clean them and paint them to avoid corrosion but I was thinking that now that I’m under the truck doing all this I might do the headers and I order a set of headers, but I’m unsure what to do with the rest of the exhaust, should I get a cat less y pipe and factory cat back muffler delete? Or also though about building an H pipe and putting it out before the rear axle with a widow maker neighbor hater resonator and maybe put a valved muffler after the H pipe
What do you guys think
