6” lift w/37”s maybe my math is wrong.

Sorry if this has been discussed, tried searching prior to asking.
I have a 2016 1500 Ram Sport. The factory specs say it’s 78.5”. I had a 6” lift and 37” tires put on. Yet the measurements are
80.5”- should it have risen by roughly 9.5”?
What am I missing?

With a 6” lift and 37’s the overall height should have increased 8” or so. Not sure what the hell your numbers are referring to?

78.5 height(assuming top of roof)is what Edmunds claims are the stock specs. I just have a gut feeling something is off. I am just asking others that have a 6” and 37”s what they have.

Try measuring from the fender lip to the hub center. 37 tires would probably add 2” or so. Then post that measurement and peeps can give you a better idea. Nobody measures to the top of the roof.
Don’t think your math in post #1 is correct. 80.5-78.5=2. Not 9.5. Not sure where that came from.

Please understand I am not trying to be flip.this is why I am saying my math may be messed up.
Whether or not most people don’t measure from there isn’t my concern.
If I added a 6” lift plus 37” tires at MINIMUM the height should have raised by 6 inches? I am saying that if stock is 78.5 and I measure 80.5 that is only 2 inches .
And I am NOT a car guy.I just wanted a beautiful truck. I am reaching out to you car guys to help set me straight.

No one is trying to bash you, they (we) are just saying that your measurement doesn't mean anything if you aren't measuring to the right spot.

78.5 height(assuming top of roof)

You yourself admit that you are assuming the measuring point. It would be easy to measure from the ground to the top of the door, so it that what you measured? Because the roof is arched a bit, so the true middle of the roof is going to be an inch or more higher than the top of the door, but would be difficult to measure. And if you are leveled then great, but if not then further more the highest point will be closer to the back of the cab than the middle.

Point is, measuring the tippy top max height sucks, which is why people typically measure either from the ground or from the center of the hub to the top of the fender arch. Go find a stock set up to measure or find someone to do it for you and compare that fender arch measurement, not the "top" of the roof.

My stock ‘17 big horn has a measurement of 20.5” from the center of hub to the wheel opening at the front. Looks like you got more than a 6” lift…unless your measurement was at the back?

The ground to fender opening is 35.5-36”, so looks like you gained roughly 8+” of total height with the tires too.

What lift exactly did you have installed? I have seen some lifts not lift as advertised

Also keep in mind not all 37's are 37". If you look up your exact tire on the manufacturer's website it will have an actual measurement they can vary quite a bit. Your tires could be 36.2 or 37.4 or something else so that will make the math not math as well.

Stock Rams are not 78” On average Rams are 75”
If you did a super lift it’s 5” font and 3ish in the back. Superlift seemed to have a bunch of rear end set ups over the years.
