You've identified the first possible culprit. Pull the cap and check the seal for nicks, cuts, folding or areas that are not sealed to the underside of the cap structure.

I have had intermittent starting issues. It acts like it has no fuel, but will eventually fire up. Then it threw these codes the other day. **** is driving me crazy
