My 2014 6.4 hemi ran cold and didn’t throw much heat. I was thinking thermostat, but have heard others say could be water pump or other things. 170000 miles. Any thoughts would be appreciated

FYI, you are in 5th gen. Could be heater core too. Good luck.

Is the engine temp cold, or just no heat in the cab?
^^^ this
What's the coolant temperature while driving? If that's not up around 200°F then it's a t-stat, if it is up there then suspect the heater core. There have been a few people reporting plugged heater cores on the HD trucks with about 50/50 shot of unplugging them by back flushing. My buddy just had to have his changed in his '14 2500.

You said coolant temp is 125°-140° when fully warmed up? Yea bad tstat for sure. Dang. That’s a wide open tstat. Coolant temp should be around 200°. No wonder you have no heat.

What?? It only gets up to 125-140? Not sure how that’s possible. Maybe I’m wrong. Is that at full operating temps after driving around for a while. When my thermostat stuck open in my 6.4 I would still see temps around 185.

If Trucktracy is anywhere near where I live, I'm not surprised. I can drive for over fifteen minutes on the highway after a cold start and none of the fluids will be up to temp this time of year - so an open T-stat would do that on shorter trips.

I agree if its a short trip and cold. I live in Ohio and it takes a bit to get up to temp. I was assuming he was saying thats the highest temp he could reach after driving all day or something. Thats how I read it anyway.
