Greetings Guys

I apologize for this question but..... Just changed the oil and filter in my 2500 6.4 for the first time. Put in the manual stated 7 quarts with a new filter. But the oil read about 1/2 quart too high on the dip stick? So are you other DIYers finding the same thing, or what?

Thanks

After you changed the oil, did you run the truck to normal operating temperature, shut it off, wait 5 minutes, then check it as per manual?

You never get ALL the oil out. Always put at least a half qt less, run a few minutes, check for leaks, let settle, and finish fill with dipstick level..

Mine took 6.5 qts exactly after I drained the old oil and installed a new filter. There usually is a 1/2 quart that remains in most vehicles.
