Going to trade in soon and was wondering what would be faster and have more get up and go off the line? I'll end up with big tires headers and a stall which brings me to my next question what one has the stronger tranny? :roflsquared:

At the end of the day I love the big lifted look but also love LOTS OF POWER so I'm trying to weigh my options because right now a cummins is out of the question until Maine figures out its emissions and such

I would take an 8sp with 3.92's over a 6sp with 4.56's. I actually just made this swap on my own trucks.

No. I bought a new 2015 Ram with 8sp and 3.92's to replace my 2011 Ram with 5sp and 4.56's.

Ah, didn't realize that... I must have missed all that... I'll have to do some searching but is that one as fast as the 2011 or is that the one you just did all the backhalf suspension work to? I can't keep up :roflsquared:

I have the 2011 regular cab that I race with. Then I have a 2011 crew cab 4wd that was used as an everyday driver. It had every bolt on, 4.56 gears, and a 3000 stall converter. And a few months ago, I bought a new 2015 sport with the 8sp and 3.92's.

Overall power and drivability feels so much better in the 8sp than it ever did in the 5sp, even with 4.56's. I still feel the 5/6sp is the best for the track at this time simply because of the lack of tq converter options and trans tuning for the 8sp, but for street driving and occasional race, I like the 8sp/3.92 combo better. I also dont have to worry about WOT downshifts in this new truck. You can go WOT from any speed without hurting the transmission.

Im on the fence with my 2015 6spd. I've been going back to forth on Moes site looking at both options, 4.10's and 4.56's I want more grunt off the line but need decent fuel mileage for business travel on highways.

On a shorter tire with the 8spd and the combo of 3.92 and a 4.71 first gear ratio, you don't need a stall converter to get it moving. Even so not needing any stall like the 5spd trans does.

The 8spd is much more durable than the 5/6spd trans by far in stock form.

There is a 16 RCSB 2WD in Maximum Steel at the local dealership right now, which is odd. This particular dealership stocks nothing but 4 door 4 WDs and work trucks. I may take it for a test drive. That may be an expensive mistake. Sharp truck.

What can I exspect from a regular cab short bed hemi with the 8 speed and 3.92's for performance? Just burn the tires all the way through first and half of second or what? I'm coming out of a 6 speed with 3.55's and it'll almost burn all of first. So I'm curious what the 8 speed will do with the crazy low first gear before I go out and buy one because I can't truly test it out during a 5 minuet test drive

J, you're just going to have to drive one.

I did drive that SBRC on Monday. It was however, a 4X4. My first time with an 8 speed. As a side note, that truck lasted on the lot for aprox 5 days. It never made it to the "line". It caused a bit of a stir. Like I said, they stock nothing but 4X4-4 door, or work trucks.

The truck I test drove had the lousy 3.21 gears. Evenwith the supposidly fabulous 8 speed, I was not impressed. Sure it moves out. But it takes forever to shift. It was "Hurry up and Wait". To be quite honest, it was annoying. Why did they replace the Slap Stick with a big hole? Knob on the dash? It's a DODGE TRUCK! Put the shifter back, please. But if they're going to put some silly little knob on the dash, put a fold down armrest, so it can seat 3.

However, I have 5/4.10, and drove an 8/3.21. Before I drove that truck, I really wanted to be blown away by how much better it was than mine. Quite honestly, I like mine better. But I will say, if Dodge would put the shifter back, the truck had 3.92s, and it shifted like my Tuned truck did, the savings account would be lighter right now. Man, that was a good looking truck!

Passiveagressor has one with a tune, 170 stat, clutch fan delete, and muffler. With nitto 420s he ran 13.47@100 but he can drive like a pro.

I'll soon take mine to the track on April 2nd. I have the same mods as passiveagressor but
Mine will be on slicks and half ass front runners. I'm expecting better than a 13.7 though.

I'm not looking for track performance mostly just on the street and having fun around town

It was 13.47. I corrected it

Damn 13.47@100 with some 31 or 32" Nittos?? Must have been one hell of a launch. The trap speed seems a bit down but good run nonetheless! Im hoping for about a 13.5ish. DA around here at night has been in the 200-500 range. I saw that he made that pass at 150 DA?
