Fantastic. You planning on keeping chrome accents?

Not sure yet. Might vinyl wrap or paint bumpers and mirrors. Plan to beeline the stock running boards black. Might keep the handles chrome to break it up a little. Headlights will be painted to match and have clear corners in them. Might do a 2 tone there as well to help break it up also.

Custom offsets has a Chevy 2500 with leafs right?..is that the truck your referring too?

I cannot tell you the difference between a 3” lift and 5”, all I can tell you is my truck rides so smooth it’s unreal and I have 37” MT’s.

My trucks current measurements are 46-1/4” rear and 46-1/8” front with my Bilsteins set to 2.6” and 37’s. Some here with 5100’s at 2.8”’ and 5” rear have added an additional 1” rear spacer. Every truck is a little different so measure and do the math.

As far as the procomp rear brackets, yes that would be a nice upgrade but it will ride fine with the Zone setup.

Hey @JB1 , quick question dude...

I've noticed in quite a few pics of guys like yourself running the 5" Rear Coils the rear wheel base seems to be shortened, almost pulling in towards the cab, so it's not centered within the wheel well.

Is this a trait of adding 5" on top of a factory 3" rake? Or is it something to do with the BDS kit?

The Pro Comp 6" kit has the 4.5" rear lift but seems to keep everything in the middle.

I'm about to order a BDS kit so figuring out which way to go as was thinking of getting the 3" rear and adding a 1-1.5" coil spacer.

Thanks.

Maybe it’s the angle or flares, here’s a pic a little more straight on from couple weeks ago, click it and zoom in. But honestly I’m not sure how it was stock.

If your going 37’s get the 5” coils, of your only going 35’s get the 3” coils

It's kind of a balancing act between keeping the wheel centered in the well, and still having tire clearance as the suspension moves.

The link suspension on these trucks cause the rear tire to move in an arc when the suspension moves. when the suspension compresses, the tire moves up and back in the wheel well. when the suspension droops, the tire moves down and forward.

In theory, if you have a large enough lift, larger tire, and keep the wheel perfectly centered at ride height; it would be possible for the tire to contact the rear of the fender when you load the bed, hook up a trailer, or flex the suspension off road.

Awesome, thanks guys. @JB1 those pics really help. Going to get the 5" coils.

Other quick question, I see you're running the rear Pro Comp drop bracket and Core Arms. Is this setup in addition to the BDS rear end or to replace the BDS kit?

Either way what are the benefits of the drop bracket and new arms?

I've also been trying to find your height measurements @JB1, do you have your floor to to of arch heights to hand?

Thanks again!

Ya I added the procomp rear drop brackets, I wanted the control arms parallel. It’s not a requirement, I wanted a different setup and plus I just can’t leave anything alone lol

I recently switched from 37’s to 325’s and my current fender height is 45-1/2 at all 4 corners.

When I initially had it lifted it was 46-1/4 all around and settled over time to about 46 to 45-3/4

Thanks for all the awesome info @JB1 it's all super useful!

I was about to ask why you went with the 6112 rather than the 5100 but it makes sense if your rake was slightly under 3".

Mine is bang on 3" - 36.5" front / 39.5" rear so going to have to get the 5100 and max them to get it almost level.

Just need to find someone to ship everything as currently getting quotes for over $800, the joys of being in the UK. The bonus is there's about 20 RAMS in the whole of the UK and none will have a stance like this!!

Hey @JB1 I see Bilsteins now have an 8112 coilover, looks pretty badass. Any idea if they are out for our truck yet or not?

I'm currently running the 5100's @ 2.8 and looking to replace them with something a bit heavier duty. Coilovers are too overpriced and way more then what I need. Was looking at the 6112, when I stumbled across the 8112's.

Hoping that might help fix my clicking noise when turning left issue also.

I haven't seen those for our trucks yet, but they do make them for the Tacomas. I'm sure the pricing is comparable to the other 2.5" coilovers with reservoirs.

I watched your video and listened to that noise, its hard to tell what it is over the internet. I wonder if its an install issue versus a component issue, its just hard to tell without being there

I've been told lower ball joint, Inner tie rods, CV shaft, Upper control arm bolts not tight enough, Crossmember bolts not tight enough, rack and pinion is bad, rear control arms are loose, bracket under steering wheel on firewall has lose bolts, lower strut bolt to control arm was loose, upper strut to frame nuts were loose.

Thoughts on any of those? It's only when turning left. Seems to be happening more often now.

I need to get an actual decent torque wrench and go through and check all those out. I have already checked out the lower strut bolt, upper control arm bolts and rear control arm bolts but my torque wrench isn't the best and could be way off.

Someone needs to make a torque chart for our suspensions with pictures to show the part talked about and the ft/lbs or in/lbs needed.

Is every lift kit install a different torque requirement? You think most general parts would be the same torque specs, regardless? Does it depend on bolt grade, etc?

I can't find anything for our rear control arms that are accurate, seen like 4 different torque setttings, same as the track bar. I should make an idiot proof/torque guide for dummies like myself haha.

Hey guys, with the BDS 6" lift and added Bils does it increase the track with at the front at all?

I'm ordering new wheels and want to know if -24 will become -70 up front!!
