8.4 screens on back order?

Good morning fellow gearheads! I was wondering if anyone knew if the 8.4 screen was on back order? I took my 18 Ram in well over a month ago for the dreaded screen bubbling/separation. The dealership placed a replacement on order and told me that they sometimes take a couple days or weeks to come in depending on the demand. It has now been about 6 weeks since my first initial visit and the dealership still has not received the replacement. I called them yesterday and was told that they still do not have any info other than its on order. Anyone else experience anything similar?

I imagine they aren't waiting for the screens themselves but rather a whole radio. A screen only install is not something the dealership is likely to undertake.

Correct....... the dealer replaced the whole unit in my truck .....but I waited about 5 weeks for the new unit.

Well I'll be...I had no idea this was a common issue. My 8.4 screen on my '18 is also de-laminating from the top left corner. Haven't had a chance to take it in. (I hate the stealerships and since I am at 42k miles, need to lean on my extended warranty which I need to look up...yada, yada)

Good to know this is a recognized issue. Not so great there is such a waiting list. Guess I better make time to get in line on it...

I'll post what they have to say once finally getting in.

Yes ..I hate going to the dealership also , but after my channels wouldn't change & even started changing by itself (bubbles on screen kept getting worse) I took it to the dealer
and they acted like it was a known problem .... then like others it was just a wait

I'm very sorry about this extended wait time for your radio. Our radio suppliers are continuing to catch up on radio orders impacted by the nation-wide shutdown. We know how frustrating this is, and we appreciate your patience.

@RamCares thank you for the replies. The radio was received on Thursday last week and installed with no issues.

Last Friday my nav started saying I was about 100 miles from where I actually was and my map was slightly rotated. Took it in Monday and they ordered me a new unit. They just called 10 minutes ago and said it was there so I am dropping it off Monday. So they must have got caught up on supply.

Does anyone know if the vehicle still has to be covered under the 3/36 warranty to be covered since this is a known issue? The screen on my 18 RAM has started de laminating from both top corners and has started to glitch/black out more frequently.

Out of warranty probably, have not seen a recall. But if you find the right dealer they may work with you since you are over on miles but not time (maybe). If you can't get it replaced for free ask if they can sell for dealer cost. Also connect with RamCares. And if nothing else you could either buy your own replacement screen or find one in a salvage yard(is how I did my upgrade). Good luck

Possibly, @RamCares may be able to help. I believe someone in your situation recently had their's replaced.
