I thought I would take a few mins to show the audio upgrade in my ’14 Ram sport CC. I used an Audio Control LC8i to sum the front/rear door and tweeters (8 speakers) as well as the LC2i to pick up the sub signal. For the speakers, I chose Hertz HSK 165s for the front and rear, utilizing all factory speaker locations. All signals were sent to an Audio Control EQS (had one in my last Ram and loved it). This gave me the ability to fine tune the horrid signal coming from the “Alpine premium sound system”. From there the speaker signal went to an Arc XDi 600.4; the lows went to a JL 1000/1. I build my own sub box from epoxy resin and fiberglass cloth. On a side note, ill never use polyester resin again as the epoxy was a wonder to work with and had zero smell.

I built the box as large as I could without raising the rear seats; 1.41 cubic feet and went with a pair of JL 10w6v3 subs. This box is larger than their recommended volume, but is far easier to decrease the net volume as opposed to increasing it. 1/0 gauge wire was run to a distribution block where a pair of 4 AWG wires feed each amp. I placed 1/8” mass loaded vinyl in each of the doors, as well as along the back wall.

The highs that are thrown out from the factory Alpine amp are way out of whack; I had to attenuate them by over 12db. It took a while to get it to sound right, but now its incredible. I love that everything looks factory; you cant even tell there is a sub box installed unless you look closely. The only thing I don’t like is that you can feel the JL sub grilles when you’re sitting in the back seat. I may have to raise the rear seats by an inch to be safe. Should they ever come out with a factory harness that gives you front, rear and sub rca’s ill grab it in a heartbeat. Let me know what you guys think.

You did a nice job! I bet it sounds really nice. I like the speakers, Love that Arc amp! Did you deaden the doors or just lay the MLV in place?
The best move is cleaning up all the signals with your Audio Control gear...setting up your speakers for pure success!
Great job!

I didnt deaden the doors, but will probably place a few squares through the speaker holes in the near future. The Audio Control equipment works great; I highly recommend it to anyone looking to do the same thing.

Is this a crew cab or a quad? I've been thinking about going with JLs stealth box for my quad cab because of how little room there is.

Where did you tap in your LC2i at? I'm getting ready to pick one up to do my build.

I had the factory sub, and used the 4 wires (dual voice coil) that went to it.

I've been looking into the Foxbox, did you have to use seat spacers to lift up the rear seat assembly? How does it look in there? Quality? Sound? I'm going to be pushing two Rockford Fosgate P3D2 10's through it, just been waiting to pull the trigger until I found someone that had one.
