What differences are there between the two? Output shaft? Gearing? Transfer case bolt up?

Thanks, should have been more clear.
I was wondering what is the difference between the 8 spd transmission.... 2WD vs 4WD?
I’m aware of all the other differences mentioned[emoji39]

Shouldn't be a difference to my knowledge.

Tail housing and output shafts.

If it's like the GM's then the 2WD output shaft could be cut to proper length and then transfer case could bolt up. Or get 4x4 tyranny with transfer case from a wrecking yard.

Are you looking to covert to 4x4?

Do share ideas. I have researched this for quite sometime and I just recently learned of the output shaft being the only difference on the transmission side of things.

Now onto the suspension. I figured this was the only way I could sell myself on the dirt king setup since the coil buckets need to be chopped, removed and new ones welded in. With that said since the kit provides the 4x4 style LCA's and coilovers can now be mounted the only thing left is swapping steering knuckles. Then the 4x4 equipment can be installed on the vehicle. Once the switches are installed HP tuners and Diablo should be able to active the TCM for it. Alfaobd can turn on the BCM modules to activate power to the switches.

Theorically it should work with all OEM.

Thanking about it ...trying to talk myself out of it

Anything else I'm missing?

Use the older 2011 diff so I can regear to 4.56 :D
Is the BW 44-44 or BW 44-45 better?

I’m going to be limited on choices depending on what the donor vehicle has to offer

I would really think long and hard about trying to convert a truck to 4wd. It is doable (not easy by an means) but the cost and time involved would be such a waste. By the time you get done you could have just traded and bought a 4wd and saved yourself a lot of headache and money.
Not only that, but if you convert it you will kill any resale value of the truck. Nobody is going to want a backyard converted truck. You will get pennies on the dollar for it when you try and sell it.

Just something to consider. I see these type threads all the time and they rarely work out like you think they will. Sounds good on paper but not in reality.

Don't do it. Please. You have a badass truck now.
Or you could take the black car in the shop and turn it into a 4x4 on 37's. Food for fun thought. Lol

Ha ha, I’ve already got a backyard converted truck[emoji846]

The only reason I even let my mind wander in this direction was the availability of a donor truck with all the parts needed.

I don’t need four-wheel-drive. [emoji57]
