I wanted the 8spd when I got my 14 but apparently dodge doesn't see it necessary to have the 8spd with 3.92 lsd option on the express they stick you with only 3.21's so I ended up with a column shift 6spd with 3.92's. It's a option on everything apparently except the express.

Hmmm...my '14 Ram Express has (as Ram calls it) the anti-spin diff and 3.92's

Here is another one, and a bunch more at this dealership 2014 Ram 1500 Express For Sale in Bloomington IL | 1C6RR7FT1ES401969

Maybe you should have had your dealer do a search for the truck you wanted

Just bought a 14 Sport. Must say I absolutely love the 8 speed compared to the 2012 6 speed 3.55 on the express. Still can't get used to the rotary shifter, even after 1500 miles. Parked it twice in the last week and forgot and left it in drive

Don't worry they make it idiot proof. It goes into park after you shut it off. I.found that out too the first week.

As I search for a new truck, needed one this weekend and rented a 2015 Big Horn Hemi with 8 speed from Enterprise. As many have said, the transmission itself is a marked improvement over the 5 and 6 speeds. Seamless shifting, up and down. I did however feel the rotary shifter was completely out of place in a truck. It also felt very unsubstantial and cheap. It was far too easy to turn - almost as if it was worn out (for lack of better words). I would much prefer a column shifter (like GM has) to keep the console space. Put your hand on a 2015 F150 shifter or GM, and you have no doubt you're in a truck. Wish RAM would do something about it - I didn't like it at all. Other than that, love the truck as I am sure most of you all do too :)

Getting ready to take my 14 R/T in. Trans still hesitates sometime when shifting into reverse. It's like a caliper won't let go for a couple seconds. Also it still whines in reverse and a lot of times it shifts into reverse violently. Sometimes into drive too.
Check your settings to see if you've got hill assist turned on. It holds pressure on the calipers for a second from stopped. Turn it off if it is on and see if you like it any better.
Reverse gear whine isn't unusual. The gears for reverse are cut different than the forward gears. Straight gears as opposed to helical I believe.

So THAT is the second-long hesitation I feel from a stop! Sorry to threadjack, but you've just solved one of my very minor beefs with my truck. I'll be shutting this off tomorrow to see what happens. Thanks! :D

I know right! My truck just isn't manly enough without a dopey looking archaic column shifter! It sucks!! I also hate having power windows (only a total ***** needs a push button to roll down a window) and while I'm complaining, what's with a push button to start? I feel the testosterone draining out of me each time I start my truck. I long for the more manly days of a crank start out front! RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!

It took me a while to get used to the rotary shifter but now it has become muscle memory for me. I actually screw up and turn off the fan in my wife's Santa Fe every time I drive it when it's time to put the car into park. Some times I blast the fan when it is time to put it into drive as well.
If like me you turn it to park while doing 75 on the interstate you will start to trust that the engineers knew what they were doing with the system. It won't let you screw up the transmission with the shifter.

Yeah, when I bought my Laramie a buddy at work laughed at my "auto dimming" headlights. What a *******. I hate being in a vehicle now that doesn't have them....

for some reason people seem to hate anything new. like the dial shifter almost everyone hates it and some have legit reasons but a lot of people that i see hating on it haven't even used it. honestly i think people just get jealous of anything that they don't have or simply because you have a new vehicle and they don't. my step father is constantly trying to find reasons to complain about my truck yet whenever he needs a ride or something moved he's begging me to come with the truck he hates so much
