Does anybody know when I should change the trans fluid on my '19 2500 tradesmen with the 6.4? I tow a 6500lb camper thru Ohio hills. 28K miles on the clock so far. Dealer says it's lifetime oil. Not sure I agree with that.

The manufacturer of the trans says 60,000 miles for heavy use and maybe 80,000 for "normal" use.
I had mine done at 92,000. No heavy use.

EDIT: Replace the pan and filter with every fluid change.

PPE makes a heavy duty transmission pan for the 8 speeds, that holds another 2 quarts of fluid, and has a replacable filter.

Just crawled underneath my 2024 3500 6.4l to change the oil. And I noticed that the Transmission pan is plastic ! No protection for rocks or anything else, except for the transfer case skid plate further back. When did this madness start? I can just see a goodsized-rock getting kicked up and taking a bad bounce.

Thanks for the tip on the metal replacement cover, but it looks like they don't cover my year/model, only 2500's. Anybody have a quick reference while I keep looking? And: Any known problems with the plastic pan????

All the 8 speeds have had a plastic pan, except for some jeep application that I dont think they make anymore. I've seen a couple people doing some serious off roading that got a tree branch jammed into the pan, but otherwise not many issues. I would assume all the 8 speeds are the same in the 2500s and 3500s but I would defer to someone else more knowledgeable.
