Hey ya'll I'm new here so please let me know if this is in the wrong area for posting. I plan to update it when progress is made.
I've had my 2nd gen for almost 10 years now. Bought it with 52,*** miles and now she sits at 114,***. I've owned many trucks over the years but this one has always stuck with me as my favorite. You could go as far to say it's like a 4th child to me haha.
The truck has done me proud this long. It's starting to show it's age and I won't have that!!! We're gonna make it look new again with a little more power and just an all around head turner. I've started little by little when I find time between work and family. Couple hours on the weekends here and there with my boy. I'm pretty stoked about this, not only do I get to make the truck nice again but get to teach my boy a few things along the way. Hopefully he looks back on this and means as much to him as it did me.
Here's the run down on the truck
Bed sides have rot, cab corners and rockers shot, front fenders and front bumper are shot as well. (Some may think not, but I can't stand my stuff rotting out with so much potential)
So what I did is got ahold of a buddy of mines uncle who goes all over the country and buys mint parts from southern trucks.
I've found a complete bed, front fenders, front bumper and new dash. Of course everyone who owns a 2nd gen knows about the infamous dash cracks lol
I've started to rip the truck down and started sand blasting the frame. I can not keep the truck in the garage. The wife will shoot me! (Not kidding) lol. Ok I may be exaggerating a bit but still. So I'm only doing sections at a time. Blast and primer repeat until chassis is ready for paint.
She'll be recieving a huge make over in the engine compartment. I plan to purchase the Hughes top end kit. Consisting of aluminum heads, cam, timing gear/chain, FI intake and gaskets. Will also
Be getting the sct tuner as well. I already have installed on the truck headers and dual electric fans.
I feel this should really turn the heads when we tool around town.
So now that I've waisted the better part of 30 minutes typing this I better get my ass back in gear and out to the garage!!!
Here's a few photos of before and current progress.
