Good morning. New here so sorry if this is common. About to acquire a '99 Ram HD 2500. 8.0 v10, 4x4. All factory, 130,000 miles. Brakes are spongy and the power steering isn't so powerful. No squeele or grinding in either. Does the master cylinder control both on this model? Truck was my dad's and he passed a month ago. He was the original owner, and it hasn't been driven much the last year. Thanks for any info.

The moderators/administrators might move this to the the 3rd Gen. section?, try reposting in the corespondening section for your year truck, might get a faster response.
Lots of very knowledgeable members here that have helped me many times.
Sorry to see why you got the truck, but like that your keeping it in the family, good luck getting it fixed.

Master cylinder is not related to power steering, start by bleeding brakes, see if that works, if not, disconnect brake lines and blow them out with compressed air, and replace wheel and master cylinders. Chances are this needs to be done anyway. As for power steering, check fluid and add as needed,if that doesn't help try cleaning out the lines maybe, but you might just need a new pump though.
