Apparently on my 2015 Sport the A/C Condenser sprung a leak :nono: I'm going to replace it myself but will have to bring to the dealer to recharge with the stupid 1234YF refrigerant since they are the only ones that will work with that stuff. Just wondering if anyone knew any write ups or videos or tips about how to do this. It looks pretty simple and I found a couple videos about the 3rd gen rams but just wanted to make sure I won't miss anything on the 4th gen. Thanks!

Where is it leaking from? If it’s leaking from the accumulator fitting, you can add another O-ring to stop the leak. It’s a common issue and that’s what FCA started having us due instead of replacing condensers.

The Tech said the die was leaking out of the bottom of the cylinder on driver's side of the condenser. Is this the accumulator?

Ya most likely ya. You don’t need to replace the condenser. Just add an O-ring to the fitting. You can get at it from the underneath.

Awesome, I'll check that out. Is there a special O-ring?

There is but I don’t have the specific part number off hand. Any A/C o-ring that’s the right size will do.

Would this leak be heard from inside the cabin? Mine goes into the dealership this weekend because the a/c is blowing warm. I'm also hearing a noise inside the cab that stays consistent regardless of the blower speed.

What are the symptoms of this o ring failure visually or otherwise?

There really aren't any symptoms but warm air blowing. I took it to the dealer and they told me all the Freon had leaked out so they pressure tested it with a dye and found the leak at that spot. There was nothing visible to me when I was looking at it.

No, I don't think you'd hear it at all. I didn't.

Update. I did the O-ring trick and so far so good. The Dealer hadn't heard of this fix but was willing to try. He only warned me that if it ended up leaking back out it would be another $200 to charge the AC.

Is this only an issue with the new 1234YF refrigerant or is the accumulator O ring problem go back to 2009?

Damn that 1234YF is expensive.....

Picked up my truck today and dealer said they couldn't find a leak. But, they were happy to charge me $370 to recharge the system.

They couldn't find a leak but all the refrigerant had leaked out? That's weird.

They claimed to. Part of that $370 was the diagnostic cost.

Tach-tech you are a champion. Thank you sir! Excellent pics!

I just used a recharge kit on my ac unit. If it doesn’t hold-I’ll try this route. Thanks
