So i sold off my 2001 Ford F250 SD and my 2011 Mustang V6 to consolidate my cars for family reasons. Need a truck to pull the boat, but it is not an ocean liner so a 1500 was enough. i looked at the F150 and the Ram which I obviously decided on the Ram. Cost was a factory, but I just like the styling of the Ram and I had a 2004 2500 that I regretted getting rid of.

Anyway I have to vent a little. I am a little upset with myself for not investing more time in research for items such as the Radio and accessories, the 8 speed available sooner then I was led to believe and i am annoyed at Dodge a little for this interior of the truck.

It runs good, but the squeaks and rattles in the cab are driving me insane:crazy: I have a rattle on the dash that goes away when i hold the radio area, a rattle in the headliner at the passenger rear and the driver seat squeaks when adjusting or going over bumps in the road. I am going to ask the dealer to look at them when i go in for the oil change, but man has anyone else experienced this? My 2001 SD did not rattle this much.

Is this an Express version thing?

The Express is more of an economical version which means it won't have all the insulation and tech, but it still shouldn't creak, squeak, and rattle. I'd have the dealer look at it. In the past I've used the soft side of tape style Velcro to insulate plastic from plastic and its worked great. If the dealer doesn't resolve it, try my trick. My '98 F150 with 94,000+ miles still is squeak and rattle free.

If you want a quieter truck and don't mind doing some work, tear out the interior and use a dynamat style product to quiet it down. I did this with my G8 and it made a huge difference.

Yeah, in the cheaper versions of trucks you always tend to hear more road noise. Before I recently upgraded to my 2013 1500 outdoorsman, I had a 2012 1500 sxt, and everything rattled in that thing after 6 months. You couldnt even crank the tunes without being annoyed by the rattles. :(

No rattles in my Express. I have over 16,000 miles on it since Sept. My last one had over 19,000 miles on it and it had no rattles either.

I have an annoying rattle in my dash. Have had it since day one too.
The darned thing is temperature dependent so I can't ever find it!

I would certainly complain, and complain a LOT until they fix it.
I have been very unimpressed with the quality of service at my Ram dealer.

Do you have the regular cab made in Mexico, or is it a quad or crew made in the USA? Right now Mexico auto plants are producing vehicles with less glitches than their American counterparts. I'm glad my Express was made in Mexico... it's rattle free and has a slightly different interior than the quad and crew version made in the USA.

There's no difference in quality between models... it's all the same minus the options and cosmetics. Undercoating and carpet on the floors will make a difference. You probably just can't hear the road noise over the sound of how awesome your truck is hahaha!

You might try removing the lower glove box temporarily. It's very easy - just flex the sides in a little and it just sort of falls out.

I don't think they make the Express trucks deliberately more crummy than the more expensive models. I hate rattles and my 2012 Express is definitely better than the 2010 GMC that I traded in on it. One strategy that I use when trying to get rattles fixed under warranty is that I tell the service writer that I'm willing to pay a nice tip to the tech if they truely fix it. It seems to help and I'm totally willing to pay $50 to get rid of a rattle. They just ruin my enjoyment of the vehicle. I've gotten rid of new cars and took a loss when I couldn't get rattle fixed.

I've had mine for 13 months and no rattles so far. Just that annoying tranny whine. But, it's getting quieter too.
