Newbie here and have a quick question for those that own a 2014 quad or crewcab 1500 4x4 5.7 hemi with 8 speed trans 20" wheels with 34 Nitto tires and 3:21 rear...

I love the truck and have been searching online and mileage figures seem to be extremely vague considering dodge is claiming 15-21mpg... So I figured the best source would be to ask the people who actually drive them... I'll be using the truck to occasionally haul a race trailer and also a couple street and dirt bikes...
However most of the mileage will be daily use around town and on trips... I live on the west coast...

Thanks...

You will see the most accurate numbers if you go to Fuelly - Track and Compare your MPG .

Then you can search for the exact truck (minus gear ratio and tires) to see what the hand calculated numbers are.

For the tires..subtract about 3 mpg.

My truck will get 20 MPG US all day on the highway if I'm doing 90 kmh on cruise. This drops huge going in town. I usually get around 14 mpg in town. Towing I get around 10 mpg.

This is with 35" tires, 5" lift, diablo trinity with a custom tune (91 octane fuel), S&B Cold air intake, MBRP cat back, and a light foot.

Before the lift and tires I was able to get about 24 MPG.

How the hell did you do that!!! I was getting 17-19 stock. My best tank was about 20 and that was a lot of feathering the pedal and coasting.

Now I have 295/60s (34") on stock 20x8 painted wheels, 8 psd, & 3.21 gears and get about 14.31 - 15.4 mpg. Then again, mine is a 4x4 and that cuts into the mpg too.

Maybe I'm just a better driver? Just kidding lol!

The tuner, CAI and exhaust made a nice difference for me. I picked up 2 MPG from it all. I just put the cruise on at 90 kmh and drive lol.

2014 longhorn CC 8 speed hemi, 3.92 gears, 4x4

Most people with 4WD and larger than stock tires prefer the 3.92's. It can be near $1000 to have them swapped. Might be able to work it into the deal if it's at a Ram dealer.

Thank You Guys...
I'm replacing a 2012 Nissan Pro 4x that I totaled and according to Fuelly the overall mileage is close to the same (about 1 mpg average) and that's what's confusing to me because the Ram 1500 4x4 is so much bigger and more comfortable to travel in, plus is capable of towing whatever I might need... So I'm just having a difficult time grasping the fact such a nice big truck with a 395hp HEMI is capable of coming close to the mpg of a v6 nissan crewcab 4x4... Which is why I asked...
And yes it's being purchased from a dealer as a certified preowned...

Nissan has notoriously bad mileage on their V6 and V8 engines. My Maxima ('07 3.5L) only got about 19 in mixed driving and the Titans while reliable inhale gas. I would imagine the 4.0L V6 is even worse than my car. The 4 cylinder cars are great but not my cup of tea. I am only getting 14.5mpg in the city in my Ram but it's new and has 3.21 gears. More of a highway setup and after break in I hope it goes up some but with the big tank I only fill up every 2 weeks.
