First a little about me...

I am new to the forum and am shopping for my first pickup since I was a kid. I'm about to retire in a few years and want one to pull a 5th wheel RV and just travel aimlessly around. I am close to 30 years with my company, and that will be enough!. I will be in my very early 60s and look forward to being able to do nothing. Wishful thinking! I grew up working on cars in the 70s thru early 90s but I don't do a whole lot with cars these days. and I had to read all about diesels to understand them. I have only owned gas vehicles....

So much about me and my boring story! I been researching the past 6 months pickups and RVS--if not longer. I been leaning towards the RAM over GM/Chevy and not a Ford fan, especially after reading about their diesel. So I been leaning towards the RAM...

I found a 3500 pretty loaded. It has the AISIN, 3.73, dual rear wheels, moon roof, 5th wheel tow package, HD radio, keyless enter and go, auto level rear suspension, 220A alt, adjustable pedals, and cargo view camera.

What it lacks: spray in bedliner, running boards, and cold weather package. My understanding is a '17 would have the threaded holes for the running boards, and the 6.7 cummins has the block element in in so I would just need to wore it over to a place where I can plug it in. Am I correct on those two points? I called around and could get the Line-X bedliner for around 600 for the 8 foot bed. the online price is just over 55k I'm thinking its a good price and it has just over 18k miles on it.

Thoughts?

I just bought my first diesel but I am not new to RAM. The price seems about right especially for something that is loaded and that's practically new for a diesel engine. Can't help you much with the fifth wheel questions. I can tell you that I would be shocked if you are not totally satisfied with a Ram purchase. My brother had a Ford and a year after he took it home from the dealership new... his oil light came on and there was no oil in his truck by the time he made it home. He filled it up with oil and went and traded it in on a Ram LOL.
