I ended up in a bit of mud, and used 4 low to get out. It wasn't as deep as my hubs or anything extreme.

The next time I fired it up, I got a traction control and ABS warning light, as well as a message on the dash. It happens less and less often now, but still pops up on occasion.

I'm assuming there's a wheel speed sensor (or something like that) covered with mud or loose. Any thoughts on what to look for?

Abs/ wheel speed sensors are either dirty, clogged with mud or damaged wires

If you can find a reader and see what the codes are. If you go to a parts store, make sure the reader is ABS capable. I had similar issue on my Jeep and the store reader said "Speed sensor rear right". Replaced and same thing. This msg was not part of the ABS, just a generic reading. I decided to get my own reader and found out there are 3 types. 1) Basic OBD (what they used) 2) OBD + ABS 3 OBD+ ABS + SRS.

When I hooked up my ABD (#2) reader, I got "implausible reading RR". This was a msg straight from the ABS system. What it was an intermittent wire break. The wire broke but the insulation did not. It took them 2 days to find it. This dealer got their hands on a reflectometer that will tell you pretty close where a wire is broke. I used them on the jets I worked on in the AF, even on a 800ft wire run.
