AC cuts out on hot days

2012 Ram Express. AC blows warm if left parked on a hot humid day and the controls on MAX. If I shut it off for a few minutes, it will start to blow cold again-for a while.
It it possible the evaporator is getting blocked with ice?

I added some freon last year when I noticed it wasn't blowing as cold. Could there be too much pressure in the system?

If you put too much refrigerant in the system your compressor will cycle on and off just as it will when it’s low on refrigerant…. If everything is working properly. It keeps the system from building up dangerous pressures and blowing up.
