AC Delco battery date code

I bought my new to me ‘22 1500 from a Chevy dealer. The battery looks brand new. No issues with it.

However I am curious about the date code on the battery, “G036R.” The Internet tells me that the battery’s date code means it was built in March of 2026.

I bought the truck in late February.

Have we got a time traveling battery here?

I have purchased numerous OEM ACDelco batteries for years from a local ACDelco jobber, that supplies the dealers.

Every battery that I purchased had a round sticker, with the month and year of production. An example: January 2026 would be “1/26”.

I suspect the number on the battery (G036R) is a model number of the battery. Perhaps a 36-month battery?

That 1 digit for the year makes me think even ACDelco thinks their batteries will not last 10 years. March of 2016 and still kicking!
