I've noticed when I get on that skinny pedal, theres some hesitation (almost struggles) as the RPM's climb, but when I pass the 4k RPM line the truck seems to let it all out and pulls really good.

Is that a characteristic of this engine or is the torque management holding the truck back?

I have the Vararam intake and Magnaflow 18" weld on.

It did the same thing stock, but now it seems to have a bit more power after that 4k RPM pass.

Any insight on this would be helpful.

My best guess is a combo of torque management and hesitation of the wireless throttle

I noticed that too. I just figured that's where the motor was happy, the Hemi really pulls when the RPM's get up there.

Yesterday was the first WOT the truck has seen, I was trying to pass someone.

The Hemi, even laden with this huge beast of a truck is amazing, but it was wonky at the top end WOT. It felt like I was feathering the throttle, which I assure you, I was NOT.

I do recall my '11 being the same way though. Just felt sluggish almost until ~4k

That kinda sucks. My GMC felt like it had more to give. Maybe just a feeling but this Hemi has more HP but I don't know how much of it is put down to the wheels in comparison.

These trucks have way more to give but seems like you want to have any kind of fun and damn TM system wants to pull timing and kill the power ouput.

Yea its hard to guess if its torque management or something else. On my GMC the TM would cut off from spinning the tires but it would allow them to squeel a bit off acceleration at WOT which felt strong along the entire rpm range.

This truck feels a bit more held back

Not completely but with my intune on my truck it is a lot less intrusive.

No TM tuning ability yet, we're hoping its coming...
I think the trans shifting has a lot to do with the driveability too. It already has tons of power, but doesn't put it down well; a good trans tune would wake the truck up more than more power IMO.

I've noticed that on mine as well. I have 94K miles on it, and it has always done it.

Mine does the same, I just wrote it off as the fly by wire for the most part. What gets me and I'm sure this is more the TM and Trans, but sometimes I press that peddle and the truck accelerates like my wife's Santa Fe and other times its a rocket but there is always a delay.

My 5.9 cummins was much more predictable.

Yea theres definitely a delay. Even at highway speeds when you wanna floor it to pass a semi or a Ford (haha) it down shifts like 2 gears and then it realizes "oh, you wanted more?" Then it shifts another gear down then it takes off!

I thought it was just my truck going out. I was just going to blow it off and use it as an excuse to buy something better later down the road. I guess it is a relief that that is how it was made.

You are correct about that. 390 hp at the flywheel, but less than 300 at the wheels from most dyno results. I'm sure that changed with the A8 though. Just for comparison, there is another brand that only has 355 hp at the flywheel, but puts down 307 hp at the wheels with 3.08 gears.

Only in the 1/16th mile (maybe between stoplights). No freak'n stock POS Chevy can huff and puff alongside or ahead of a Hemi in the 1/4.

It all depends on trim level (weight) and gears.
