I've seen guys posing mpg ranging 15-20mpg. Not sure how or where but I am not seeing it. Best I have ever had was 15 on the hwy @70mph with cruise control and that only lasted a few hours as it fell down towards 13. I daily my PW and my average is 11.7 more often than not. Are you guys seeing similar or am I missing something? I didn't buy the truck for mpg so expecting 20mpg is unrealistic but I have a SRT8 Challenger that gets way better and I drive it very very hard lol. anyway, just curious.

I hand calculate my mpg’s all the time. Most are around 11.5-13 for normal dd’ing. Towing is much worse, and a long cruise trip might fetch me 14.5 or so, but never anymore than that.

And the computer readout is usually 1/2 to 1 mpg higher than true mpg.

My best tank has been 11.29! I religiously record everything I do to the PW...including gas fills!

True average has been 10.66!

Pulling my 34.5’ toyhauler, fully loaded H2O and my RZR...6.8!
Ouch!!!! I was following my boss in his CTD Megacab! Lots of hills, dirt roads in 4x4!

I love my PWAGON!

On my 2016 Power Wagon I get a bit worse than Olyeir. Maybe due to the loss of horsepower with the higher altitude. Usually get around 11.3 and less per the computer calculations at 75 MPH, plus another 4% for the taller, but heavier aftermarket tires. At the higher speed limits of 80 mph, the more it uses. Slower speeds and it shows around 12.3 and higher into the 13 range. At one time I came over Vail Pass from Denver and 130 miles downhill to De Beque, Colorado with the factory Duratrac tires and it averaged 17.0 MPG. The Trip A and Trip B MPG seem to show more closer to a realtime MPG, than the entire long trip MPG.

I've had mine almost two years and after 17,000 miles my average is around 9.8 mpg. I did get 15 mpg on the highway one time, but had a hellacious tailwind.

I had a 2016 Scat Pack Charger that could easily get 23 mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 80 mph.

Maybe the new 8-speed transmission will help with fuel economy???

If you are going by the computer for your 17,000 mile average, it is nowhere near acurate. My 20k mile “average” by the computer was at 12.5, then in one tankfull towing the travel trailer it dropped to less than 9. It obviously only computes the average for the last 300-500 miles.

Regardless of the same numerically sized motor, a hellcat and a 7500 pound 3/4 ton truck are slightly different.

Yes, I would anticipate the 8 speed to help a bit with mpg’s... but not too much!

11.5 to 13.5 average,Houston traffic. 8-9 with the TT @ 37'. I have never actually taken an unladen road trip so no information in regards to regular weight and long distances with consistent speeds. I want to believe that it would top 15. I'm running 35" (yes I know they aren't) KM3's. I have also adjusted the computer to reflect the actual tire size with the Alfa OBD setup so I'm seeing real feedback. I'm also running 48F/43R (you can set the TPMS threshold with Alfa) so that makes some difference. Next on the list is fixing the average MPG and low gas light as I have never put more than slightly above 27 gallons in the tank even with a resting needle and well past when the truck throws up the fuel low warning (the one that goes off after DTE says 0).

My feel good meter says 12.something most of the time, so I feel good. Last tow I was 7-8 but I was doing 70 most of the time and we am riding in style. My TH is 34' around 7-8000 lbs, with the pedal commander it get right up and goes. Feeling good again.

Update: The feel good meter shows 11.5 now, guess it the winter gas.

The 48F/43R for oversized tires isn't too far off from what the rear tires "light load" button's reduced tire pressure TPMS threshold of 65F/45R used to be for the 2012 Dodge Cummins on the factory sized Load Range E tires vs their heavy load higher tire pressure TPMS threshold. FCA no longer offers this feature on the 2500 and so the factory tire TPMS PSI threshold is set for a heavy load. Alfa though allowed for the adjustment to that heavy load TPMS threshold.

Tire inflation/ light load button https://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1053562

Since our newer Power Wagon's have a lighter 6.4L engine than the 2012 Cummins, one would expect a lower front tire PSI setting than the 60F stated on the door decal when under light load. 50F isn't unreasonable which isn't far off from the 48F for the oversized tires. The 65R stated on our door decal for our Power Wagon factory Load Range D tires also appears to be for a constant heavy load application. Under light load it should be similar to 45R as it was the 2012 Ram 2500 Cummins. Not certain that the factory lower Load Range D tires would be stable at a lower PSI though. I am currently running Load Range E factory stock width tires which due handle fine at the lower PSI.

Sure the Power Wagon may get some better gas mileage running the factory sized tires at 60F and 65R per the door decal, but it's at the cost of wearing out the centers of the tires faster than a possible more even wear at say 50F and 45R when it isn't carrying a heavy load.

I ran my stock tires at 60 front and 50 rear for 23k miles with several rotations. Had perfectly evenly worn tread when I sold them. Anything 55 or less up front and they looked almost flat.

Good to know about those pressures on the front and rear. I somewhat figured that my fast center wear is and was coming only from the rear tires which were set at 65 PSI per the TPMS and door decal vs the 50 that you ran the factory OEM tires at.

Yea, even with 10 less pounds in the back tires, they still dont bulge quite as much as the fronts.

Sounds good. Going with 50F and 45R on my 285 75R17 at cold pressure. It's 15 degrees Fahrenheit right now and so once the tires get heated up on the road the PSI increases about 10. Need to get the outside tire wear more even with the inside. My son has the same issues with his 285 75R18 Toyo tires on a PW sized Ram 2500 Cummins. He quickly went through a set of KO2 tires due to the 80R TPMS thresholds on an unloaded bed. Thanks for the info.

Have a 1985 W350 with the Fuel Inefficient 360 --- around 10 (City), 12-15 (Highway) mpg is all it's been able to deliver. Truck is now in major surgery -- bed off, cab off, drivetrain out and I'm adding the following to hopefully improve upon the numbers as the truck will be used as a basic drive on the beach beach buggy, around coastal towns and occasional trips to the ski slopes (need a decent MPG vehicle so I'm not stopping for fuel constantly):

Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 w/ 02 sensor, new distributor (comes in the Pro Flo kit), new coil
Long tubes w/dual exhaust
Rework the gearing in the DANAs
Downsizing the tires to Michelin A/S
Still studying air delivery "growth" options -- Pro Flo 4 uses a 14" low profile air filter --- would like to push more O2 into the engine somehow............

About 10-11 average. I remote start it twice every day. It sucks. Literally. Lmao

But it’s on 37s and my JL rubicon and JK was about 2-3 mpg gallon better so I’m used to it.
