Hello all,

I just purchased my first truck - a 2014 Ram 1500 pentastar with 3.21 gearing (daily driver, no real towing or hauling planned - just wanted a truck for my hobbies and the comfort).

I found out after purchasing that it does not have a limited slip diff (stupid, I know).

I know I can order the LSD from Moe's, but I am just wondering how much on average I would be looking at paying in Canada to get it installed?

EDIT: my truck is a 4x4

Welcome to Ramforum.

Shop labor in the states is usually about $300-$400 USD for a limited slip install. I'd imagine you are looking at closer to $500 CAD for this install.

Thanks for the info!

What about a gear change to 3.92? Cost of that?

Labor cost should be about the same if you replace the rear gears, but the front gets pretty expensive. You would need a complete front diff assembly that already has 3.92's to pull off a complete gear swap.

Why don't you see how it does first. I.have a 4wd without it and it does fine. I've had the lsd in my other ones, but can't say i miss it. Gear change is not cheap with a 4wd. If the truck I got would of had it great. But it didn't and it has everything else I wanted and would use more. Most of the trucks around here with the big horn trim had 3.21 and open diff.

If you have the 4WD with the auto mode just use it. My 2014 Sport does quite well on slippery surfaces without LSD.

It took me only one winter to figure out my truck, with an open rear dif, and street slicks wasn't worth a Kiss my ass.

That brake lock differential, bs thing is better than nothing, but not by much.

Chains are great, as long as you don't toss them. Plus, they're a pain to put on.

I'm real happy with the LSD, and good tires. On its best day my truck still isn't a Jeep Wrangler. But it's a whole lot better than what it was.
